  Looks like the best before date on the hams is 4th of Feb. So better eat fast or freeze them.

      Agreed.
      I'm surprised when people aren't aware of the diffeence and the fact that the 'Best by' dates aren't actually regulated and thus can at times mean diddly squat.

        That's why I specifically stated "best before". I do think the manufacturer is implying when they think it's best to eat it before, so to me that does have some meaning regardless of regulations. I've opened plenty of meat on or just after the best before and in general it's been a bit slimy, needing a rinse off and then useable. To me it's common sense and not relying on some government regulation…. and I used to be a Chef and there's nothing quite like the stink of the meat fridge when the restaurant is pushing the limits because they've had a few weeks of bad cash flow!

  Great deals, bought 5kg of short rib, plenty of meat on them.. also bought 2 hams for only 6 dollar.
