    Thanks for sharing

  • Thanks for sharing and for the answers mclarge

  • i believe you may be wrong with the second answer.

this site suggests Hyogo Prefecture is the correct answer.

    • I beg to differ. I visit Dogo Onsen in Matsuyama yearly (pre-covid). It is the oldest hot spring resort in Japan. Spirited Away's hot spring was inspired by Dogo. Also this is on Shikoku Island whereas Hyogo is in Kansai.

The answer in a quiz to win a trip to one Island is not going to be a prefecture that is on a different island…

The answer is on the front page of the competition, as are the answers for all the questions.

  • agree with touch above, seeing as this is offering flights to Shikoku, it's most likely the correct answer. and, Shikoku only has four prefectures on the island, and low and behold the four answers above are the four prefectures on Shikoku.

dont really know the true answer about the oldest hot spring though…

"Tucked up against jagged mountains, rural landscapes and views of bright blue seas are the quaint towns and peaceful cities of Ehime Prefecture… On your journey, make sure to stop by Dogo Onsen, the oldest hot spring resort in Japan."

  • Thank you.

My wife comes from Kagawa so we have entered this so we can catch up with family, thanks OP.

  • How are you meant to get into the country when Japan is currently blocking all foreign visitors?

I think initially around November last year, just before the world wide spike in cases related to omicron, they were preparing to loosen their restrictions (ie some businesses travellers had a reduced quarantine), but when omicron started spiking worldwide and Japan was almost down to zero cases, the decision were made to postpone the opening.

Now since then, Japan has spiked like most other countries with omicron cases, so i'd say they won't lock out for too much longer, but I'd imagine the authorities are waiting for cases and hospitalisations to peak before any announcement of reopening as I'd imagine the general public would not like it.

I'll imagine when it does reopen, it will be in stages with mandatory vaccinations and pre departure covid tests.

  • Thank you op

  • Thank you op! Really want to visit Japan as I have never been.

  • Thank you

  • Still current at:05 February 2022

    Updated:29 January 2022

    Latest update:

Japan has suspended the entry of all non-resident foreign nationals, including those who have already obtained a visa. You can only enter Japan if you're a Japanese citizen or have a valid Japanese residence card with a re-entry permit. New visas will only be considered if exceptional and/or compassionate circumstances apply. All international arrivals, including those who are fully vaccinated, must isolate for 7 days.

Japan has reduced the self-isolation period for incoming international arrivals to 7 days. Travellers from Australia must still quarantine for 3 days at a designated quarantine facility. You must then continue to self-isolate for a further 4 days. Contact your nearest Japanese Embassy or Consulate or check the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for further details.
