  • Quite disappointing that this drone is still not compatible with 3rd party apps like DroneDeploy etc. I was looking to upgrade our Mavic but unfortunately will have to stick with it until DJI enable support

BE WARNED: If you don't use your battery for more than 6months on these DJI drone, DJI program the battery to died without any reason, so you have to buy a brand new battery for it, there is a hack to revive the perfectly working battery, but it's a bloody hassle.

I've had 4 mavic pro 1 batteries sitting for years on the shelf without use. These batteries discharge themselves automatically after 3-10 days. Afaik dji hasn't implemented a dodgy firmware kill switch on the batteries.

I have DJI Spark, all 3 battery dead.

Google it, so many having issue with unused dead DJI battery, you have being lucky.

        • Hmmmm haven't used mine for 4 years … better check them!

What's the bet you didn't have the batteries at a storage charge of 40 to 60% (3.7 to 3.85v). If you kept the batteries in a fully charged or discharged state they become damaged and you have to revive them by upping their voltage through a boost charge.

I've yet had a battery die on me that has been in storage charge. Though I have killed a few ryobi lithium batteries which I kept in full charge, forgot about and not used for a few months.

          • @azukay: Dji batteries are smart batteries. They discharge themselves to storage level if they haven't been used (you can set between 3-10 days). If it's been discharged below storage, then yeah maybe.

Lipos usually puff when you do them wrong.

            • @krisspy: Not all DJI batteries, it depends on the model.

          • @azukay: Well I just checked my 4 batteries which I last used about 4 years ago. I left them fully charged and they're currently sitting at 2 bars.

DJI program the battery to died without any reason

You have evidence of this ridiculous claim, of course? 🤔

All lithium-ion cells and battery packs self-discharge (as high as 3.5% per month depending on the age of the cells). DJI has been showcasing battery care for more than six years now.

You killed your batteries - not a crafty programmer at DJI.

      • If you google it, plenty of people are having the same issue, I'm here to warned people, so they know to ensure to always keep the battery charged, which is hard to do.
