I've Created a Browser Extension to Show What nbn Speeds Are Available for Properties on Realestate.com.au and Domain.com.au

Hey everyone I've been working on a browser extension that can display what NBN or private network technology and speeds are available for properties on eight Australian real estate sites. The tool can display estimated speeds directly from NBN for FTTN locations and also support co-existance and new development charge status where available. The extension is available for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.

Supported Sites

  • Realestate
  • Domain
  • Realestate View
  • On The House
  • All Homes
  • Rent
  • Reiwa
  • Homely

Supported Networks

  • NBN
  • OptiComm
  • LBNCo
  • OPENetworks

Chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/nbn-availability-c…

Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/nbn-availabil…

Edge: https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/nbn-availa…

If you encounter any issues or have any feedback please comment and I will see what I can do.

Well that's stupidly useful as I'm spending hours searching houses daily. Installed on FireFox and working already. Thank you!

Really? Its not hard to drop the address into https://www.nbnco.com.au/ to see what it has. Most 'areas' have the same type of NBN tech, so you don't have to do it for every house.

  • Nice!

    NBN Technology: Fibre 🛈
    Max Speed: 1000Mbps

You may want to specify what kind of Fibre if possible as in this case it is Fibre To The Premise (FTTP). I can see that you have FTTN properties showing as FTTN at least.

I'm fairly certain that only FTTP will be displayed as Fibre it appears to be a strange limitation of the API.

      • I figured that might be the case. It's no biggy.

    Very nice!

  • That’s actually a good idea.

  • Post it as freebie

    • Sell it to those domain owners.

  • How can I upvote a forum post? 🤣

  • That’s a really awesome idea - bravo!

  • You're rad. Thanks for spending the time. This is the first thing I look at after checking off 'not a dump', dishwasher and AC.

  • Very nice!

  • thi sis so awesome, thanks!!

This is cool, hopefully real estates don’t jump on to this and use it jack rent though

  • i thought it would be something more complex like how far the house is away from the nearest NODE you would be connecting to so you could estimate latency and speed drops or theoretical max speed at peak times or something. otherwise great so far now i can tell which house let me get 1000mb/s speeds

    • Distance to the nearest node for FTTN would be awesome, but I'm not sure if this is public information and can't be pulled from an SQ API. Estimating latency and speed drops at peak gets difficult as it depends on the CVC of any given ISP on that POI.

  • Hi.
Are you still working on this app?
It has stopped working for me in all 3 browsers (Google, Edge, and Firefox).
    Thanks.
