Tips/Advice for Patong, Phuket?

I'm traveling to Patong in Phuket with friends at the end of June. I've never been there and would like some tips and advice about the place. Such as food/drink, entertainment, tours, massages etc We'll be staying in the Blue Ocean resort which I think is about a kilometer from Bangla Rd. Any advice/tips and how not to get ripped off would be greatly appreciated :)

    http://www.patong-beach.com/patong-info/
    and http://wikitravel.org/en/Patong_Beach

also, with it being a non-westernised land, remember to try and haggle (especially for things like taxis)

    • yep. for taxis, if you're paying more than 200-250 baht to get anywhere, you're paying too much.

imo patong is the worst spot on phuket. anyways, easy enough to visit other places around the island

    Ping pong show :P

  • massaaaaaaaage

    • Just make sure the story has a happy ending! :p

    • just don't chat up any ladyboys. if you do there definitely won't be any happy ending :)

      • It might still be happy…depends on your Singha intake! What happens on tour, stays on tour! :D

  • With tours make a list of what you want to do, then shop around a few tour booths on the street to get the best package price. Don’t book with the hotels or over the net it will cost you more . Most restaurants are ok if unsure see how busy they are the busy ones are the good ones.

  • best to check out tripadvisor. Has heaps of info on places to go,see, eat and which places make the best clothes etc. http://www.tripadvisor.com.au/ShowForum-g297930-i9925-Patong…
Good luck and have a great trip.

  • dont get arrested

  • See Neno who has a booth behind Graceland at Eden Bungalows for tours and tell him Kym sent you - best prices for tours guaranteed. Have been going many years and he always looks after us and friends… not only with prices but advice and follow up.

  • I started a thread for general Thai advice. As it was general, not Phuket, I thought I would make a new thread.
