Gearbite Ghosting Me on Return?

Hi all,

I've recently had some dead pixels appear on my Xiaomi 34" Mi monitor, and after contacting Gearbite on the 23rd, they offered $100 back or a return. Obviously I opted for a return/warranty… which was one of the two options THEY offered.

A few days went by and nothing, so I contacted again, they again offered the $100 or the return. I again, asked for details on how to return.

Several days later, no response, I asked again for return details.

Several days later I'm still no closer to that return address, lol.

They've been quick to reply to the messages with the offers of $100, but just won't reply to anything when I ask to return.

Any help?

I’m assuming the $100 is in the form of Gearbite money? Don’t accept it, there’s so many T&C it’s next to useless (like item can’t be on sale, item has to be over $x amount)

Bought a rc car from them, faulty after a few months. Offered me a partial refund, which I stupidly accepted..

Oh gross, they didn't mention anything like that.

When I had to return an item for warranty they sent me a shipping label from [email protected]

The address on the parcel post they generated was 18/35 Dunlop Road
    MULGRAVE VIC 3170
    Gearbite

    • Thanks, giving that email a shot 🤙

  • I've noticed gearbite are not as good with warranty as they used to be.

Has a vacuum that needed to go back to them. They took about a week to punt me to roborock who then took another week of triage and nonsense before accepting return.

Australian consumer law says we can deal with the retailer. Gearbite used to have excellent warranty and on a prior time I dealed with them direct.

    • Going to be honest though.
Don't deal with the retailer for warranties if you can avoid it, it just adds an additional layer of complexity to what should be a streamlined process. They'll just go through the normal warranty route anyway, but just add 2 weeks onto the processing time.
They don't make money off warranties so are last in line in terms of resourcing.

Head directly to the manufacturer/supplier and it'll be far smoother

      • But a lot of manufacturers state you have to go to the retailer :(

        • Yes they may say that
But in my 7 years of retail the customer has received a faster and better outcome everytime by going directly to the supplier

  • Similarly, I've also been STOOGED by gearbite on THREE seperate occasions for THREE different xiaomi items.
Keep annoying them until they get back to you.

Unfortunately somehow they are still one of the safest distributors of xiaomi gear…

    • For Xiaomi stuff I'm now mostly purchasing via Kogan. Last year when the roller head on Dreame V10 broke, Kogan replaced the full package for me 3 days after receiving return (as in send me a brand new, sealed Dreame V10 because they said they don't carry part). Australia Post did stuff up the return though, took 3 weeks to actually reach Kogan return address on the tracking. Granted that was due to all the lockdown and also Labour Day holiday.

That’s why I went with Dell S3422DWG with extra year of warranty and easier return/refund process.

  • Gearbite still around? I noticed they're not as active as they use to be on their FB VIP group. I had a warranty claim which was dealt with them really prompt and quick, but this was back in 2020

  • I know this is an old post but I’m experiencing something similar with them. Got a hand stick vacuum from them that was listed as Au version but received a product with non Au plug and a travel plug with it and sent them 2 messages with no response. Surely that isn’t considered Au version is it? Am worried about the warranty for it too. Is this normal with GearBite? First time buying from them.
