Razer Basilisk V3 Ergonomic Wired Gaming Mouse Australian Warranty Issue

Hi All,

Recently I purchased Razer Basilisk v3 from JB Hi-Fi and after 2 months of use the hyper-scroll function stopped working.
I logged a case with Razer and got advised to ship the product to Singapore for Warranty/Replacement. The terms and condition said if an item is lost during transit Razer is not responsible even when the shipping is provided by Razer.

  1. I would like to know if anyone went through similar issue?
  2. When I bought the product in Australia - shouldn't Razer adhere to Australian laws and provide service/replacement within Australia?
  3. Why the heck we have to ship faulty goods to a different country to get replacement or repaired?
  4. Where we can raise this issue with the Australian authority ? This company is getting free money from Australian consumers and when things break they take no responsibility.

Any product that is purchased from an Australian store is covered by Australian warranty. You say the mouse is just 2 months old, you should have contacted JB Hi-Fi first as the retailer is the one that is responsible for the replacement or refund.

You could contact the manufacturer for a warranty claim but this is often something you do after the initial 12mo warranty has ended and the store that sold you the item is no longer legally obligated to replace the product for you.

JB are usually pretty good in regards to warranty if you have a receipt.

If you want to exercise your rights as a consumer, you need to take up your case with the retailer not the manufacturer. Contact JB-Hifi, they have obligations to you under ACL.
