Cheapest Esim Plan/Prepaid for Second Number

Starting a side hustle and need a second phone number for it.

My personal number is ozbargain fave $300 Boost plan which uses the physical sim slot.

I have an iPhone 12 which has esim for a second number - this number doesn’t need data, just calls. Any suggestions?

Vodafone prepaid or gomo looks like the cheapest but they’re both $15/month. Surely there’s a calls only cheaply for $5/month…

  • What about a VoIP Number? Sadly you stuck with the big telco for eSims as far as I know…

    • Interesting. Didn’t think a mobile voip is an option these days. Got any suggestions?

      • I've been using skype for years, don't use it all that much so can't say much about the cost, but it's on the cheap side. Initially signed up for applying for jobs overseas, you can pick a local number.

        • This maybe too late but I know CrazyTel has a virtual mobile number for $8/month. It doesn't have any call or SMS inclusions though.

  • Basically you get a free voip app and integrate it. I use voipline but with a landline and a softphone app .

I think though through them its about $15pm for a mobile number+line vs $9pm for a landline

    • Oh awesome. 9/m for a landline with calls?

    • Can you please link these products? Thanks!

      • I use voipline

Its like $1 for the land line number and the "user" is $7odd. We pay for calls in a bundle with a 1300 number. Mainly inbound, so free on voip softfone

    • which company you are talking about ? what's the benefit of voip ?

  • I'd definitely go for a mobile with an esim. Then your work colleagues can send SMS messages. My second number (esim) is with Gomo. $15/m for unlimited calls and enough data to last the month (back in the days when we worked from offices).

    • Seems like a good point re texts. I have a business partner I wonder if we can port the esim from my phone to his week on week off so we both have a chance manning the phone.

    • Oh and mobile doesn’t look as professional but I don’t really mind.

  • At the moment it seems cheaper to buy a $150 phone and use a 365 prepaid plan from aldi or sth. Really nothing great for esim providers.

  • there is Amaysim unlimited call & texts for $60

  • +1

Telstra have a $30 prepaid plan for 6 months that gives you esim 50 mins calls, 100 text messages and 150mb of data. That’s what I use on my iPhone 12.

Boost is my primary physical sim.

  • Surely there’s a calls only cheaply for $5/month…
