After my recent encounter with a mart I wouldnt go near them with a 10 foot pole. Their product had fallen apart in 2 of the 5 year guarantee. They refuse to refund for their crappy product because "12 months have passed" when pressing them on the fact that they state they comply with australian consumer law on their website, and what does a 5 year guarantee mean if it runs out in 12 months, they had no answer and said i could email their feedback page or "seek external advice"

Yeah had this happen with a couch with a 10 year warranty it fell apart twice and they refused to fix it, their solution was to keep it and have $150 credit it was a $1500 couch, I complained on their Facebook page for a month until they credited me the full amount dodgy as hell would never ever buy again from them

I have a similar experience with them too. What's Picodi btw?

        • Just a place that lists sales codes, nothinf fancy

      • Did you ever get a refund, or just store credit for some other shonky product with reduced guarantee period?

No refund just full amount as store credit sold it as credit for $1300 I'm super glad I had photo copies for my invoice for all those years they're definitely banking on people losing it and just buying new again

@solidussnake: Store credit for me also but I don’t know if there is anything worth buying there

  • bit off topic - based on comments above for amart, which store would you guys suggests if I need to fit out a whole house on a budget? Ideally something like amart or John Cootes but better than fantastic…

    Thanks a lot!

Honestly, golden rule with furniture (and anything, really) you get what you pay for. If you buy something cheap, turns out it won’t last. It’s designed to be replaced.

We bought office furniture from ikea and after 2 years it’s holding up well, our bedding is from snooze (but was expensive, we had previously been living on a $100 mattress.. I can’t begin to explain the difference but at the time we got by).

My best advice is if you can go out and inspect - do it and work out how much youre going to use the object - spend a little more on daily things, a little less on non daily.

      • that's great advice thanks mate! :)
