Bargain Flights to Europe Soon?

I'm heading to Portugal later this year, looking to go mid July till mid September. I am hunting out some flights, best value ones I can find are with Singapore airlines to London for $1490 through them ($1593 with seats selected)

Before I lock into buying them, does anyone here think there will be some deals popping up in the near future? Not fussed on where I fly into/out of if it is with a decent airline

  • I reckon all airlines are planning a ramp up in schedules for the rest of the year. Takes time to plan, so we haven't seen many announcements yet. Also they're probably waiting to see the increase in demand first.

So prices could go down if more capacity comes on stream.

However, now that the gates to Australia are open, there's surging demand.

No one will know if the extra supply will be short, or exceed, the demand to come.

Plus, there's also the issue that oil prices are rising rapidly, approaching almost us$100. This will feed into higher airfares later this year if it is sustained.

Historically, $1500 wouldn't be the cheapest prices for off peak times, but also is rather cheap for peak times.

$1500 is ok for summer on a good airline, is Amsterdam cheaper on SA? Try putting in Europe as your destination into google flights

  • I booked in October, business class to Paris in June with ANA and paid $5500. I think it is $6500 now, so it seems prices are going up rather than down. But maybe with more flights opening it might drop.

Flight centre has a price drop guarantee, but not sure how good that is to be honest.

  • SQ flights to London for $1500-ish is cheap even for pre-covid days.
