Removing Cement Splatter from Exposed Aggregate

Hi
Need some assistance please.
Recently got exposed aggregate done around my house. Concretor guy came in, did it but left cement splatter all over my existing (older) exposed aggregate. So now there is cement stuck, making my driveway almost three colours (new, cement, old). Whats worse, is its also on my neighbours driveway as well.
Have withheld like couple hundred bucks, but the guy isnt coming back (2 weeks of calling). Have asked bunnings etc which recommended some concrete cleaner, tried spraying it, scrubbed, but to no avail. have tried high pressure washer as well (not a commercial one, just a standard ozbargain type one)

Anyone have solutions to remove the cement splatter / cement dust from my existing exposed aggregate?

    Gloves
    Glasses
    Hydrochloric acid
    Scrubbing brush / broom
    Hose
    Pressure washer
    Have fun

Personally I'd be more concerned about that huge transformer outside your bedroom.

    • When i was in urban infrastructure we had a case like this, although the transformer ended up roughly 1.5m away from the living quarters (builder just built to the plan and didn't look at the proximity to the transformer.)

Builder ended up knocking down the room and taking a 2x1m chunk out of the area. Still on hot days, having one of these buzzing a couple of meters from my face doesn't sound fun.

      • Bedrooms are all at the back of the house. Front room is just a book/entertainment area which doesn’t get used at all. Funnily enough never hear it at all

I have seen water pressure cleaners get this sort of stuff off, but the machines were using a petrol engine. So you will need to hire one.

Have a look at these and try one:

  • Sounds like you need to claim on the contractors insurance!

It looks like it's just residue/silt from the aggregate clean. Try a pressure clean as it doesn't look too stuck on.

  • Hydrochloric acid,
    Patience,
    Protection,
    Profound eye for detail…..

  • Yep, if it's cement, then hydrochloric. Not sure of dilution, try 10% first and scrub, then, say 15% and move on up till you get action. Don't worry about a pressure washer. Wear specs, but otherwise no probs, except if you got any cuts.

  • Not here to answer the question but that first photo is a terrible job.
Why wouldnt they/you saw cut the old section and pour a neat and straight new section
Just looks horrid having to look at that everyday

  • Hydrochloric acid is the most effective, but least safe option. It used to be used to clean build up on the back of agitator trucks.

There are other options nowdays, but they probably are t suited to your application (gels etc).

It will also eat the base concrete as well, be aware of that.
Get the right Ppe include respiratory, you don’t want to breath it in.

The greener it is, the easier it will be to get off. If it’s still very green you may have luck with a high pressure pressure washer.

  • Thanks all, I might try the industrial pressure washer first. Then if it doesn’t work then acid
