    I've used a bunch of these flashed with tasmota and they've been great. Interestingly (or not), we had a brown out a few weeks ago and everything survived except these. All of them were fried, and only them, a mix of Jinvoo and Uselink. Up until that, I couldn't really fault them for the purpose.

    • Any idea what it's standby electricity use is i.e. with all powerpoints turned off, how much to power the wifi only?

      Interested, as run several Tasmota switches to minimise phantom power use, but not much good for that if the switch has relatively high power use itself in standby.

        • Thanks @skid. Suspect in real world use might be a bit less than this though on standby.

          I use an Arlec PB89HA that has been rock solid and measured with an old Aldi plug in power meter to only use 0.3-0.4W in standby, 1.1W when one socket is powered on but nothing plugged into it.

          Just a pity Arlec updated their firmware, so can't OTA flash with Tuya-convert with any of the newer stock, otherwise would probably get a few more :-(.

          Might keep an eye out for deals on this one at Amazon to run it through its paces.

          • @opposablethumbs: What's the advantage of the 3rd party firmware?

            • @gadgetguy: For me, main one is keep it off the cloud, can restrict to my personal internal network.

              Many other advantages in terms of configurability and responsiveness if you want to go down the rabbit hole of DIY home automation e.g. using Home Assistant on RPi.

            @opposablethumbs: Trying to find devices that still flash ota with tuya-convert is like finding needles in a haystack. I'm yet to find any.

            • @ewand7: For the Arlec "Grid Connect" devices, if you can find any with date stamp prior to about mid-2020 then usually has older firmware that can flash using Tuya-convert.

              Have to open the box to see the date stamp though, as no indication externally on the box that I can find.

              There are the odd ones still about at Bunnings, depending on where you are, but have to be lucky.
              I bought up a bunch of older stock Arlec single and double switches and flashed them, when I noticed some starting to get the new firmware. Only have one of their powerboards though, so wouldn't mind adding to that.

              I started my journey with Tasmota way back with some generic Aldi switches, that used to trip my fuse box when cutting the power on say the TV and stereo amp at same time. Have never had that problem with the Arlec ones though - must be better quality surge managment internals.

          • @opposablethumbs: Got the rebadged Jinvoo SM-SO301 of this in deal below.
            <www.ozbargain.com.au/node/687063>

            Unfortunately, not able to OTA flash with Tuya-convert, but power use is about the same as the Arlec PB89HA:
            ~0.35W in standby, 1.1W when one socket is powered on but nothing plugged into it, 4.8W when all sockets (including USBs) are powered on but nothing plugged into them.

  • 100% claimed. looks like a good strip with individual slot control

  • Lightning Deal 100% claimed -> waitlist

  • I bought one and it never connected to the mobile. I am only using it like a normal spike guard

  • Spacing of outlets too close for Alexa power bricks.

  • The black seems to still be available but at discounted price of $34.84.
