Best purchases to satisfy Credit Card sign-on bonus?

Hi all,

I've recently picked up an ANZ Rewards Black card, which has a 'spend $2K in the first 3 months' type signon deal. The major purchase I had planned didn't pan out, and so now I've got to find at least !$1.5K worth of qualifying purchases to make to get the bonus.

I don't pay my utilities directly so I can't put it towards that … Does that leave me with just gift cards? Which gift cards are the best for large values (e.g. being able to use them across multiple shops would be good)?

Cheers for any advice.

Prezzee has a wide variety of swappable gift cards.

  • Coles, Woolworths or ShopBack Super Swap?

    • How does ShopBack Super Swap work? I've not heard of it!

It's basically prezzee, but with cashback.

        • Okay, stupid question - but what's prezzee? Just a site to buy gift cards from? What's the advantage of prezzee / super swap?

@Grazz989: Shit mate, this is almost spoonfeeding.

Read up on it, DYOR. 👍

            • @John Kimble: Fair - I guess I was looking for the OzB strategy of using them, per se.

I.e. the difference between knowing that e.g Kogan mobile exists and what they do, and OzB knowing that you can stack discounts and get paid to sign up and use the service …

Thought maybe these guys might have had big sales or there's a way to stack discounts etc.

              • @Grazz989: Yes, they have deals once in a while, but whether they have any in your time frame, or for the amount you require, no one can know.

  • Ask any friends if you can pre pay their ultility bill. Or internet.

    Others are driving licence.

  • Amazon credit. It sits there and never expires, you can purchase direct to the card and not have to worry about gift cards.

We seem to go through this every month or so.

Supermarket gift cards (or just supermarket shopping) is typically the way to go. It's not like you're not going to spend $2k at the supermarket in the foreseeable future anyway.

Otherwise it's pre-pay utility, internet, mobile phone, health insurance, etc. bills.

  • Check when your insurances are due, car and house, think you can buy a month in advance

    • If you pay monthly you can pay for the whole year.

      • I usually pay yearly, but I meant they let you buy insurance a month in advance, if his is expiring soon it ll surely make his spend

  • Go out on the town.

  • Pay bpay bill with beemit

  • Rates

  • Is any car or home insurance due soon?
