TV Recommendations gaming/media

Hi,

Used to research a bit and was up to date on what to buy but the market moves so fast now, I thought I’d ask the professionals.

Budget about 3k
Size 55 and up
HDMi 2.1 a must
Use: PS5 gaming. This is important. I know the new oled have great low input lag and game modes which is a must for me. Also general media watching. YouTube, Netflix etc.
Sound: irrelevant as I’ll setup a nice soundbar when I get a good deal.

I think the LG C1 may be the best go but wanted to get some more feedback. I think C2 may be coming out soon? Thanks in advance.

Since your budget is up to $3k, then get the LG C1. About $2.2k now, lowest was about $2k.

I wouldn't wait. The way things are going, the C2 will have a the same or higher RRP compared to the C1 and you won't get a discount for a while.

I'd suggest getting the C1 now for $2.2k. I doubt the C2 will be materially better.

Pre-covid I would have waited for the newer model.

Thanks for your input. That was one I was just looking at and seemed good bang for buck since the lower price I think was about 2k. So I can take the $250 hit and not worry too much about it. I’ll research for the rest of the day and see if I get some more input otherwise I think ill take your advice and pull the trigger on the C1. Cheers.

I had the same dilemma, C2 being announced but I ended up buying a 83C1. No ragrets.

I don't think TV prices will drop any time soon, if anything it will go up due to supply chain issues.

At least you're not paying RRP like for cars at the moment.

        • Not even a single letter? :D

Yep, I think you’re right. Really would have liked the 65 inch but almost another grand, 55 will suffice. Cheers

@[Deactivated]: Not even a single letter.. haha

I think the 65" lowest was about $2.7k but now is about $500 more. The 55" can currently be had for about $200 more than the lowest, so it's easier to swallow.

        • I've been frothing over that exact TV, trying to wait for July's bonus (as this feels like something I shouldn't spend my salary on), contemplating putting it on a credit card then getting a free balance transfer card and paying it off with my bonus later….

I already have a Sony 65" x9000h and it just feels like burning cash if I get it… that said, at least I'm not buying jetski's??

          • @GENAB108: I had a 65" Plasma so it was a decent upgrade.

I was waiting years for large OLED's to fall in price (LED just didn't cut it for me)… the large price falls never eventuated so just pulled the trigger during Black Friday ebay/cash reward promo. Ended up being around $6550 after cashback (which was only paid a couple of days ago).

Only recently I forget how much I paid..still hurts when I think about the price haha

Lucky you get a bonus that can pay for it.

          • @GENAB108: Lol that’s one way to justify it.

  • Bit cheaper on Good Guys ebay. Is buying non ebay the same experience if I need to do a warranty claim or anything else??

Edit: oops. Didn’t realise it was sold out.

For next time, it is the same experience. Good Guys will give you a proper invoice when you accept delivery/pick up.

    • I got one of these and can't recommend it enough.

  • Anyone have any input on the Hisense U8G, in particular for gaming?

  • Thanks all for the input. Decided on getting the LG C1. Seems the best bang for buck for what I want. Thanks again, much appreciated.

Just a note, if you’re looking for 2.1, the C1 is your only bet. Sony screwed the pooch royally with their implementation and Samsung is well… overpriced for what you get.

    • Yeah kind of surprising how bad some of the big guys did with no 2.1 or just 1 port. LG is doing it right. Which is why I just purchased the 65inch C1 :D. $3200 with free delivery. Not the best price but, given the current climate… I'll take a hit!
