Certified PreOwned Phone - Would You Buy?

Hi all, looking at buying an used phone.

Came across an eBay link saying the phone is CPO - Excellent condition
CPO stands for certified preowned. Here is an example

Never heard of this term before, so was wondering if anyone had any experiences with buying a CPO or refurbished phone?

I would not as cannot be bothered with the headache should something be wrong or go wrong with it.

Not so much worried about physical condition, but more if one of the speakers don't work or battery isn't at full capacity or it gets reported stolen and locked or something develops down the line or prior water damage or balance of warranty availability etc.

    Not worth it for me.

  • It is a somewhat trusted seller (127098 reviews, 99.7% positive), so I wouldn't be worried about getting scammed or anything.

Not exactly sure what 'CPO' is, but generally 'excellent' condition means pretty good. My dad got a refurbed 'excellent'condition Samsung S7 off eBay and it had no cosmetic/functional problems at all. Still using it to this day in fact, over 2 years.

  • The store has a rep on here and post regularly

  • I bought an XS with no problems but I wouldn't do it again. I wouldn't even buy Apple refurbished. Brand new or nothing for me.

  • I don't think CPO is a real technical term, would be interested to hear if that was wrong though. I think for a android based phone its a bit more safer. iPhones can easily be locked with iCloud and you're stuffed, but I think you can just reformat an Android (don't quote me on that though).

In saying that, this is mobileciti, I think they have a brick & mortar store in Parra Sydney? I bought an iPhone 7 there without any issue. They had a few and let me choose which one I wanted and charged it for me so I could confirm it worked. The box came with a a4 print out of all the checks they did (no icloud lock etc).

I did read reviews about a staff member being angry, and others saying that they found a fault and it was hard or refused refund? But I don't know if there's any validity to it, for me at least if its the same store, I felt my purchase went well, and I liked my iPhone.

You would want to buy elsewhere from an actual reputable seller and stay away from this seller and their other businesses they run

Mobileciti are also known as Allphones and Sydney Mobiles

Even if the phone is brand new and unopened you cant trust them

They were outed many times before for false claims

There are plenty of complaints when you check past deals but here are some recent examples
