is this $299 minus $20 Afterpay off the same product listing?

Similar, but these aren't samsung b die. Different timings.

Edit: these are the same as OP https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/memory/ddr4/80885-f4-360…

Same CL16, but slower subtimings… Probably doesn't make a huge diff.

          F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC

The model with with a C at the end uses Hynix instead of Samsung. Makes a huge difference if you are planning to OC/tweak timings.

          • +1

@HomeAlone: I bought the GTZNC version (non b die) around a year ago thinking I would learn some mild overclocking. I set XMP and haven't looked at it since. If I got this version (b die) I doubt I would make the most of it

          • -1

@HomeAlone: Not to mention the quality, replaced hundreds of dud Samsungs with Hynix

          • @HomeAlone: So, to those of us new to DDR4 and OCing, should we strive for the Hynix (C at the end) always?
            Thanks!

            • +2

@DigSpider: No, Samsung B Die is superior in every way.
              Model ending in N

            • +2

@DigSpider: Sorry, I worded that quite poorly.

When it comes to overclocking, Samsung B-die is far superior.

Going with the Hynix based one would make a huge difference for the worse.

@HomeAlone: Thank you so much for the clarification. I'll def keep that in mind for future upgrades.
                Cheers!

  • 2x8 and no RGB, but these b-die (4000Mhz version) was $90 usd recently. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KXNGWRF?th=1&psc=1
    Still a decent price.

My brother has these in his system and it's not b-die. Paid $278. Apparently not all are. Still decent ram.

    • This specific kit should be according to b-die finder

      https://benzhaomin.github.io/bdiefinder/

    • That's probably the version ending in C which is Hynix.

This version ends in N and is pretty hard to find. This model is definitely B-Die.

    • then he doesnt have this ram?

      • -1

Just checked with him. He was disappointed because it's the exact same specs but not Samsung.

  • Just bear in mind if that some motherboards will not let you run 4 sticks at full speed, only one pair.
Ryzan on Asus will only let you go 2933Mhz on four sticks, Anything above and it won't POST

    • +1

You need to set all DRAM settings manually. I am running 4x16GB B-die @ 3600 CL14, but using just XMP/DOCP will not work.

    • What model Ryzen and motherboard is that?

    • +2

I'm running 4 x 16gb 3200mhz cl16 in both strix-E & tomahawk wifi for many months no issues.. manual OC.

      just wrong

    Insane price for these sticks.

    $288.50 with the afterpay20 discount.

    Thanks OP

  • only available for C&C at certain stores :(

As of today Crucial has reached end-of-life (EOL) for its Crucial Ballistix, Crucial Ballistix MAX and Crucial Ballistix MAX RGB product lines.

The Budget kings are gone, they're focusing on DDR5. Wouldn't be surprised if other manufacturers focus on DDR5 too going forward, so if you're planning on upgrading your slow RAM or have wanted bigger capacity (going to 4 sticks instead of 2), now is probably the best time before DDR4 prices start to hike up. With every generation change, there comes a time when the older generation hit its cheapest point and most production, after that prices slowly start to increase as production goes down and finding high-speed low latency RAM becomes extremely hard with more time.

    • Oh no…. Didn't they just start with rev b. stuff like last year though?

  • Same with corsair^^

  • 2x16 dual rank b die for $300 is preet based

  • Would have, but no stock
