Visitor Visa 600-Entry Requirement

Help for a Friend.

My friend Sister wants to come here to Australia. She was issued 3 years multiple entry visa in April 2019 with 3 months' stays on every arrival. She never traveled though due to Covid and other things.

Now she is planning to come on 1 April this year for a month. Her Visa says must not arrive after 17 April 2022 which is the visa expiry date. My friend understands her visa will extend automatically when she enters but if he has to book her return flight, will that be on or before 17 April or he can book after that date too?

If he books for 30 April, how will her sister explain to Immi and Airlines staff that Visa will be extended automatically and no issue in booking with a later date than 17 April, if that makes sense?
Thank you

You may be elgible for a Visa waiver. Better to apply for a new visa so your "friends sister" gets a new visa(possibly valid for another 3 years)

    Check the "Visitors" section.

There is no need to apply for a new visa. Wasting money.

      • It's a visa waiver. so you don't pay for the new visa and get an extra 1-3 years for free :) win win

There shouldnt be any issue booking the return flight. It's not the concern of Australian immigration nor the airline.

They are not concerned about your visa when leaving - as long as you leave within the 3 months. She does not need to apply for a new visa as long as she arrives on or before April 17.

    • This is correct

  • Totally fine. Heaps of people are in her situation.
