[PC] Tomb Raider 1+2+3 $2.27 @ GOG

660

Enjoy :)

Tomb Raider is a game that needs no introduction but if, for some reason, you are not familiar with the series, then these games are about the adventures of the beautiful, intelligent, and athletic British archaeologist Lara Croft. You might think that this job is mostly digging holes and dusting old bones. How could a game about that possibly be fun? Well, Lara Croft is anything but an ordinary archaeologist and her life is anything but boring. Lara Croft, tomb raider, occupies an interesting niche between Indiana Jones and Bayonetta: she’s a relic hunter who can kick butt and take names with the best of them.

When Lara ventures into ancient tombs in search for legendary treasures and forgotten knowledge, she must keep in mind that those responsible for safeguarding those artifacts didn’t leave them unguarded. The tombs are filled with deadly traps, bizarre monsters, and clever puzzles. Lara is not all looks, though, so she’s ready for the dangers that await. At her disposal is an arsenal of weapons from twin pistols, through all kinds of machine guns and assault rifles, all the way to grenade launchers and bazookas.

In the first game, Lara seeks a powerful artifact—the Scion—that seems to be the key to finding the mythical island of Atlantis. In the second game of the series our sexy archaeologist follows the trial of the mystical Dagger of Xian, which is a weapon used by the first Emperor of China, and it is said that by plunging the dagger into one's heart, the bearer turns into a dragon. The third part features non-linear gameplay, meaning you can choose not only the way in which you complete a level, but also your next destination in the story. Here, you fight against an evil corrupt corporation—RX Tech— that has come into possession of a strange meteorite apparently imbued with unique properties.

Fans of action platformers, great stories, and timeless classics: good news! You don’t have to plunder any long-forgotten crypts to pick up the phenomenal Tomb Raider games: get them here on GOG.com instead.

The beginning of the legendary franchise that features one of gaming’s most iconic characters: Lara Croft.
Fantastic level design, intuitive and smooth controls, and challenging but rewarding puzzles ensure many hours of fun and an unforgettable experience.
Involving storyline that is based on actual myths and beliefs.

There are 3 games, not one

There are reviews in the link

      User reviews 4.5/5

It depends on whether you're playing these games to relive childhood nostalgia or not.

The dated visuals, clunky controls and annoying camera angles are pretty hard to get past, especially if you're not into retro-games from the 90s.

Also, TR 1 & 2 have numerous bugs and issues and require quite a bit of fiddling to get working properly on modern PCs.

These old GOG games work but will need to be patched to play correctly on modern computers. IE fix controls, deinterlace graphics cut scenes, correct widescreen aspect ratio and bug fixes.

        Tomb Raider 1 Patch
        Tomb Raider 2 Patch
        Tomb Raider 3 Patch

Although its hard going back and playing these with the old tanks style controls, graphics and gameplay.

        • Update: Tomb Raider 1 & 2 can be patched and play perfectly with there all in one patch. Unfortunately Tomb Raider 3 plays fine when installed but the applied patches to update the game for modern computers, to fix controls, graphics and widescreen aspect doesn't work and breaks the game.

      • Rubbish, she's very intelligent and talented.

Yeah, yeah, yeah but Lara would vote Liberal or Labour though?

Come on Diji1, you're supposed to go-off on a political tangent not talk about the topic at hand ffs.

Played these back in primary school as they came out, never finished 1, but 2 and 3 I really sunk a lot of time into. I loved them so much!

EDIT: can't imagine playing them today though. They prob look ugly af and play clunky af.

  • It was free at epic in December/January I think. Great series.

These are the OG PS1 games, I think Epic had the mid-2000s reboot trilogy free.

The real way to play these

    https://docs.libretro.com/library/openlara/

    There's even a browser port.

      • Thanks, fired up just to listen to that menu music.

"You could leave tomorrow, are you busy tomorrow?"

I remembered that, haven't seen the intro in a while, must be ingrained in my memory as a kid playing it.

    • On the Game Boy Advance too now.

  • Remember to check that you don't have this for free on Epic.

Could simplify title to Tomb Raider 6

  • Looks like all Tomb Raiders available at GOG are 80+% off.

    • which is the latest one? I bought 1+2+3 before seeing this comment :(

      • +2

The most recent Tomb Raider available at GOG would be this one I believe - https://www.gog.com/game/tomb_raider_goty

      • Out the older ones, probably Tomb Raider: Legend is the most playable now as the old controls can be quite frustrating.

    Tales of the Twin Pyramids

But why doesn't the main character have a beard?

    • They do, but you need the nude mod to see it.

  • +3

    Heeheee low polygon boobs

  • How well do these work on modern PCs? I have them all on Steam, but they don't even start…

    • +1

🤔 it’s been a while since I tried the steam versions of TR1 & TR2, but it’s worked fine when I did… might have to test them again myself…

From memory, they were using dosbox & nglide? Or maybe nglide was something I added back then… 🤷🏼‍♂️

      • nGlide is awesome, a while back I played NFS2 with Glide mode and it was great. I couldn't afford a 3DFX back then

    • Why aren't you using Open Lara?

      • Not sure that was around when I last played it. There was I think ‘TRE’ but it only loaded level files, not the whole game as you’d normally play
Does OpenLara do that? Might have to look into it.

  • To this day, I have never completed any of the tomb raider games. I'm just really bad at solving puzzles. I never a walkthrough to hold me hand. Sigh

    • You are not alone - Back when the first one came out there were NO walkthroughs! I got stuck at a couple of spots and gave up frustrated after soo many hours of running around the same area!

Uncharted is similar -Modern version and easier (lesser frustrating) puzzles

  • Dem tiddies
