NSW Trains Cancelled. Who Did You Think Did It?

Unions and politicians are blaming each other for the train cancellation. News keep rapidly changing their articles, so it's hard to find out what's going on. Some examples:

Who do you think is responsible?

        • Keyword is "easily" - it's a very substantial capital investment.

It's also yet to be seen what happens when a supplier of all this highly-specialised proprietary equipment folds, or parts of the system become unserviceable or obsolete and unrepairable - do you need to upgrade the entire control system again?

Threads like these just prove how little the majority of people know about these events, and how ignorant they are when it comes to jobs they don't do, and union operations.

No wonder idiots get voted in to power every election cycle.

    • I'm not sure I understand your comments. The poll is currently showing 452 for NSW government cancelled trains, which seems to be aligned with how it has panned out over the past two days.

      • The comments I should've said

  • I think it was all the Rideshare and Taxi companies.

I don't understand why Sydney train tickets are so expensive when the Sydney train system cannot provide high quality service to passengers,Just two weeks ago I took the train from city to richmond, when the train arrived at westmead station, the driver forgot to open the door, no passengers could get off the train and no passengers could board the train~
I feel that the Sydney train system is way behind China's suburban train system and the services offered by Sydney Trains cannot match the price of the ticket. I think that the Sydney train union is too powerful and has become a bottleneck hindering the development of Sydney's city.

I think politicians forget a union is made up of actual workers they seem to think unions are some secret 3rd party organisation. So when the transport minister David Elliott tells the media the ‘unions’ hijacked the city like its some terrorist organisation doing it he is telling every transport worker they are terrorising the city even though he was the one that decided to shutdown the train network without telling the premier of NSW. Shutting down a functional train network is not in the best interest for the people of NSW.

    • They did not forget. They are waging a war against the middle/poor classes on behalf of the rich.

They get supported by organisations who provide talking points as ultimately, they want the narrative to be in their favour. No minimum wage, user pays, flat tax, etc. Unions get in the way. After all, have you spoken to an American? They're scared of the word "union".

  • Sounds like the union fault. You just don't get to change to a complety new train stopping pattern overnight. If they want to have industrial action for example by making all express trains stop at every station, they need to plan for it.

For safety reasons this would have never worked without a team of people reviewing the new schedule for whole week .

There are reports that ABC has obtained documents which reveal that the NSW Government was planning a two week shutdown of the train system.

Seriously, there are some political advisers who just aren't doing their job.

It's not LNP's fault because have you seen how scary Labor is?

Last year, it was Green's fault for the bushfires!

      Poor sensitive LNP.

    • They need to be jailed, this is corruption

      • Who are "they"?

        How is it "corruption"?

Classic Scomo. Won't take responsibility for anything.

Wrong SlowMo took responsibility for his mate at HIllsong to go the states and come back without any issues at the height of COVID

I was talking about scomo not slowmo

And the answer to the question. The Government did it an tried to cover up they knew. Oops. Luckily the public servants aren’t bending over to take it.
