  • Um, depends on what voltage the appliance is rated at. If only 110V you'll need a transformer. Also motors can be sensitive to the frequency of the mains. which cannot be remedied with a transformer. Without knowing the models, we cannot say. And yes, you can blow things up if they cannot run on 230V.

Laptops and that sort of IT stuff are easy, these days the power supplies are universal voltage.

    • I also have the same doubt. On the Amazon, I couldn't find anything about the voltage in the product infomation. I heard some appliance has universal power supplies but just couldnt tell but reading the product details.

How do you guys usually check?

  • Short answer, don't buy electrical products from USA..
Buy them from UK or Europe instead.

Long answer, as greenpossum says, you'll need a transformer to convert the 220/240V power coming out of your power socket to the 110/120 power the devices expect.
I'd look at buying an Australian DeWalt battery charger
Expect your Planer to run slower (about 80%) due to the different frequency (50Hz Australia, 60Hz US)

This looks like a good site to start for advice:

Most device that plug directly into mains and use that as their power source will be 110v if purchased from the US.

Most devices that plug into mains but actually charge the main device (i.e laptop, electric toothbrush, some cordless drills) will be rates for 110v-240v as they mostly just convert the input to DC.

If in doubt, try the chat feature of amazon, or ask them if you can return if it it doesn't work.
