The game they're throwing isnt worth much anyways.

It's a marketing ploy to trick you into buying from them.

    • +7

If you were going to buy an OLED Switch then may as well get this being a few dollars cheaper and a free game
      Otherwise it's nothing special

      • thats exactly my point.

throw a game in that costs them a couple of bucks to make their deal more appealing.

        • Meta score is decent at 68. I think at the very best its worth a try. Especially since they are practically paying you $6 over the amazon deal for $499 to try this game.

Yet another post for our local anti consumer mom and pop game store.

    • +2

      Why so?

    • +1

      Why anti-consumer?

      • Amazon standard price is $499. These guys have a $550 standard price and then give you a "special" to get to $500. Not exactly much of a special but probably enough to fool some.

        • They aren’t running the promotion (discount is entirely funded by eBay) so it’s not a price jack situation like you assume. They are selling it at RRP with delivery inbuilt.

Also $499 isn’t the Amazon standard price. Take a look at the Neon colour and you’ll find it at $539
It’s been discounted since I saw it yesterday but still $499 isn’t the standard price

          • @FireRunner: Just an example. Small business like this has done a lot more and a lot worse than my example. Just go through the search bar.

  • They are getting desperate!

It costs less than US $100 to make a Switch OLED compared to $500+ for an Xbox Series X

    • +3

Yeah Nintendo definitely milk it. They can't even fix the joy con drift after all these years.

Fact is they don't need to try as people buy it anyway. Look at Pokemon these days.

      • As long as Govt doesn't come and whack ban it like Tencent games

    • +5

I'm seeing US$257 for original, US$267 for OLED when I google. Where did you get US$100?

  • -1

Damn these things are just getting more expensive

    • It’s not a great price but still cheaper and better than the Amazon “deal” posted just before this

      • -2

Would rather support the large businesses that look after customers as a priority/goal and are constantly price leaders.

        • +3

I’d rather support small to medium local business if they can match or beat multinational corporation. I think Amazon has enough money already. Also if they drive out all the competition then they will no longer need to remain competitively priced

          • -2

@FireRunner: Support the leader of value pricing not someone that just follows by matching. When has Gamesmen ever beat Amazon on normal pricing? (without Ebay help)

            • +1

@fuzor: Does it matter whether Gamesmen does it themselves or with eBay?
Also Amazon is the king of price matching. They match many retailers while they are having the special but will quickly revert pricing when sold out at the competitor
