[Windows,Linux, macOS] This War of Mine: Complete Edition $5.99 @ GOG.com

820

(All Profits Go to Red Cross Ukraine)

Bit of an excuse to spend more money on a game that you may or not play. All profits to go to Red Cross Ukraine. The charity part actually applies to all platforms but Gog is the cheapest atm (not all time) and it's DRM free.

Have the base game, want the DLC. Haven't actually played it though. Wish the game didn't change my Alienware Keyboard FX settings. PITA.

Love this game, but suggests getting it on steam for easy access to mods thru Steam Workshop
AU $7.23 on steam and profits still go to charity

does gog version have lots of mods?

    • +1

Hmm not sure. I already bought it. Quick search suggests it may be doable but doesn't sound like it's a universal thing. Some mods may be blocked by the creator?

Edit: Added more info. Still a little murky.

      • Thank you for looking into this.

I bought the game on steam long ago and you can just browse the workshop for any mods, hit install and it will show up in the game.
There is also a separate editor supplied with the game where you can make your own mods, its easy enough to make simple changes (like stats and game rules) but I wasn't game enough to make complex mods

For $1.23 extra I think its worth it.

sorry the complete edition is A$ 8.67

    • you can download the steam workshop and apply it yourself
I did this for darkest dungeon in GOG

If you want it on Steam it's somewhat cheaper to buy through third party resellers e.g. Nuuvem, GMG: https://isthereanydeal.com/search/?q=this+war+of+mine

The Complete Edition bundle isn't available on many storefronts, but it might still be cheaper to buy base + DLC off-Steam. If not, you can always buy base off-Steam, redeem it, then get the Complete Edition bundle on Steam anyway (and the base game will be discounted from the total cost).

For those who don’t know, this game was inspired by the Siege of Sarajevo.

Good game. Kinda depressing. Good to burn a couple of hours on before you inevitably die of wounds or starvation.

play in winter in the dark with the windows open

early version of game had a bug where the night unexpectedly dropped to negative temperatures and some of your guys froze to death. Died like a dog for no reason … like the quote in the game

"They wrote in the old days that it is sweet and fitting to die for one's country. But in modern war, there is nothing sweet nor fitting in your dying. You will die like a dog for no good reason.”
      Ernest Hemingway

    it's kinda slow and boring

    • Not a game for everyone, I personally found it very interesting, the slowish pace compared to other games is part of it.

    • Yeah I dont like the PC game, but I enjoyed the board game version a lot.

Thanks for posting this. Several game developers/publishers with ties to the Ukraine (e.g. studios, office locations) and/or employ Ukrainian staff, have made social media posts to condemn the Russian attacks in Ukraine and/or pledge to support and stand behind the people of Ukraine …

Right this minute, there are only two(?) separate game developers/publishers that I am aware of, who each have made a concrete action that enables the wider public to use their wallet and make purchases on games and DLCs developed/published by them, and then have these proceeds to be donated to the Ukrainian Red Cross and thereby support victims of war:

For anyone who isn't keen on purchasing any of these games/DLCs mentioned in the above bullet points, but are still keen on making direct donations to the Ukrainian Red Cross, I found their website and post:

I know a board game publisher Portal Games based in Poland also will donate the sales from Mysterium boardgame to the charity in Ukraine.
Also there are add-on on their current gamefound campaign that support charity.

99 Rubles / A$1.65 if you use a VPN to buy with.
Russian stock market just crashed by 50% so the Ruble is cheaper than usual, regardless of the currency you are using the money goes to Red Cross Ukraine.

Thank everyone who decided to buy this to support Red Cross Ukraine.

  • I'd like to buy this for my brother, but are the GOG and steam "complete" editions both different? Quick glance at each;

    • steam has the octopus (war of charity?) art dlc

    but doesn't include any of…

    • GOG has music, wallpapers, etc but doesn't include that octopus dlc.

I know it's trivial but is there a way to buy everything altogether (art, music, wallpapers, etc and the game)?
