I recently applied for an AMEX card online but it's not the card I really wanted. I received the Platinum Edge card however, I really wanted The Qantas American Express Ultimate Card. I had a referral code from a friend which was supposed to give me 110,000 bonus QFF points etc. etc. but when the card arrived, I realised it wasn't the one I wanted so got on the phone to AMEX hoping to get it cancelled and changed over but (long story short), I was told it was too late to do anything about it and couldn't be changed which immediately got my back up, so I said "cancel the card!" but then I was told I won't be able to re-apply for another card for18months!!
I admit that I did not pay attention at the time of applying and had been perusing the options available and believed the card I had applied for would be the best option for me. I wanted a card that would give me the Qantas Frequent Flyer bonus points and give my friend their bonus points.
Please no nasty comments… I know I'm dumb and feeling so annoyed at myself right now… I'm just hoping someone has possibly had success in getting the outcome they wanted and can tell me not to give up hope :-) lol

Bummer - that sucks.
I must admit, I've always been really impressed with Amex Customer Service, so I'm surprised they won't let you re-apply.
If you are just after the points, then search around here… I'm sure there is another Citi/ANZ/Etc card that will be linked to bonus Qantas points.
BUT - Hopefully someone here can help too!
