Bought one of these for my air fryer and it's amazing (I can't believe I'm excited about an oil sprayer). Seems to build up internal pressure like a super soaker, and gives a good, wide, consistent mist.

      That's what she said.

      • she said you Mister Completely

    • we got one recently I think from Coles for a bit more than this - yes it does give a nice fine mist so at this price is recommended

  • +2

I got this from the last deal and it it's the series 2. There's no bladder. So much cleaner to refill

  • -5

Had one. Wasn't a fan. Pretty messy and a pain to clean. In the end went back to the packaged spray versions.

    • +7

If you’re thinking of the first version that had a soft plastic sack inside the bottle part, I had that too and it was a bit gross. This version doesn’t have the sack and it’s way better. I threw my v1 sprayer away and upgraded

      • +3

No bladder on this one? Then I my point is invalid if this is a different product. Can't comment on the newer versions.

        • yea as above the new no bladder version is much better and actually works as intended. v1 was pretty rubbish

          • @gimme: Will give it a go. Worst case I return to Amazon :P

      • I have both and prefer the bladder version because the newer one doesn't spray well when you get to the bottom as the pickup tube doesn't go all the way to the bottom.

        • +1

By that point, you just refill it. Not a hard solution haha

        • I looked at a couple of these in Coles last night and they both had the filter at the end of the feeder tube right down at the bottom of the container. Maybe there's variation in manufacturing and it would pay to pick these out in person. I plan to grab mine from Safeway Woolies next time I'm there.

          • +1

@uvbunny: Yeah, and it's right in the middle. So unless you like holding your pan up and 90deg the bottom 10-15 ish % doesn't spray, because the pan is flat and the bottle is at an acute angle to the pan. The bladder version sprays to empty.

    • Had one. Wasn't a fan.

Of course. It's an oil sprayer.

  • Can't believe I paid $16 for this at Chef's Hat, geez. Need a second one, cheers OP.

    • +1

      How many hats?

      • +1

        All the hats!

  • Does this actually work? I bought a fairly expensive one that permanently gummed up and was impossible to clean.

    • +5

Didn't work with butter for me

      • Yeh same for me, butter didn't go well, Did you figure out a good alternative?

        • +10

There's a dodgy trick for butter..
..but I don't want to spread it

      • Thanks, very helpful.

      • It matters what oil you use. I first used it with wheat bran oil and it gummed it up. I now use it with canola and it works perfectly.

      • +2

last I looked butter was a fat, i.e. solid at room temperature

in which case trying to spray fat through a thin nozzle might be a bad idea

oil, i.e. liquid at room temperature, is on the label for these methinks

      • Butter is a solid. Don't know how you would expect it to work once the butter starts cooling. Of course it's going to block up.

    • These are still all-plastic construction but I've switched back and forth between oil and vinegar a couple of times and it cleans fine. There's a removable plastic sieve/filter attached to the bottom of the hose inside the bottle.

  • I am looking for one that does vinegar now. Do you think this will work for vinegar? A normal spray bottle doesn't work, seems to get clogged on the vinegar making goop

    • If there's goop eventually will get clogged.

      • Don't you need the goop to turn the alcohol into vinegar?

    • +3

I've been using it for 6 months with malted vinegar and not had an issue, just my experience.
To be honest my only complaint (which isn't your question) is the spray-action lever feels a bit too close to the top and not easy to use for consecutive pumps.

      • Haha +1 for consecutive pumps comment

    • In what situations you need to spray vinegar? I'm curious

      • For me, popcorn.

      • +2

I do a salad almost every night and part of the dressing is vinegar

      • +3

        chips too

      • +2

        Fish n chips

  • Thanks OP, purchased x2.

  • Hey guys, is the nozzle adjustable on this thing? I'm worried the spray will be too fine and misty, I don't wanna breathe in the oil into my lungs.

    • +1

I've never been aware of any aerosolised spray drifting upwards/around - I use mine every day. My guess is that it either doesn't create that fine a particle or that the density of olive oil is too high for it to hang in the air like mist.

But it sure makes my biceps look sweet…

      • No, moulded plastic (white) trigger fixed inside a sealed top-unit that screws into the bottom canister (clear plastic)

        • +1

Also, I've found some control over spray v. stream based on how fast/hard I squeeze the trigger.

    • +2

'I don't wanna breathe in the oil into my lungs'

you should be more worried about drop bears

    • Nope, but it's not a round spray area, it's a wide but short spray pattern if that makes sense. Fan-like

    • I'm more worried about the microplastic going into foods

      • I think that only applies when you heat plastic, so shouldn't be an issue with this product.

  • does this mean its half price at coles or woolies and price matched?

  • These are awesome..beats the old aerosol cooking spray bbq flamethrower (whilst a lot of fun, probably a little dangerous).

Hmm, do I need more…hell yes!

    • +3

      'aerosol cooking spray bbq flamethrower'

reminds me decades ago we had a 44-gallon drum with both ends cut out, sat on 3 bricks for air intake, as our backyard incinerator, which shot flames out the top like a rocket when filled with lots of flammables

our housemates' fun was to find empty aerosol cans and drop them into the inferno

maybe 20 seconds wait - then BOOM!!! big flames would shoot out the top

that incinerator updraft was so powerful I ended up putting a metal grid across the top to stop flying bits of burning stuff spreading across the neighbourhood risking starting fires elsewhere

      • Ahh the good ole days!

  • I just bought one from Amazon from your link at the stated bargain price - maybe they added more stock? Thanks OP

    • Looks like it, thanks for letting me know.

  • i have this, its ok.
i like my misto better, it mist continuously.
this one is 1 pump = 1 spray.

  • Any thoughts these be used to spray white oil on roses, as home made white oil causes $1 spray bottles to fail after a couple of times of use.

  • Now $12.95 on Amazon.

  • I just bought one off eBay for $9.35, there is one left, at that price

  • Thank you, got one not long ago and they are great quality. Even better for that price, just ordered another couple from Woolies.
