Metamucil Sold out Everywhere?

Hi all Ozbargainers,

Anyone know why Metamucil (the natural flavour, no sugar) and Metamucil capsules are sold out everywhere?? I went to a few Chemist Warehouses, pharmacies and Pricelines in the CBD, the Castle Hills area and even Roselands. They are all sold out. Even in Coles and Woolies.

Is there a reason why this is the case?? Are people now hoarding Metamucil like toilet papers? People getting more constipated during this wet weather perhaps? I need my daily 4 Metamucil capsules after lunch or there’ll be a traffic jam in the tunnel.

    Look for macrovic, movicol, et al in the pharmacies. It's an osmotic laxative, you pour it into a cup, add water and stir for 5-10secs until it dissolves then drink. Doesn't work immediately, it's best to swig down an extra cup or two with it.

      I want to be more regular (on a daily basis) and not having runs on the regular.

        Osmolax (a version of movicol) doesn't give you the runs, it works similar to natural laxatives and retains water in the stool to make it pass easier.

        It's not too rough as we use it on the little one too on a case by case basis but he isn't doing runny ones.

        Best thing is that it's tasteless and colorless and can mix with both warm and cold drinks.

    Glass of Sydney tap water will do in a pinch, much cheaper too

    Just checked the wholesaler, all Metamucil products out of stock long term (effectively 2-3 months minimum).

    I have noticed this with bran also. The cheap $1.79 bags of bran sticks at Woolworths have disappeared too.

    Why would you take Metamucil laden with sugar? Just get Macro Gentle Fibre or Macro Psyllium Husk from woolies.
