  • Anyone knows how much coffee per cups its using? Trying to calculate if its worth buying.
    My current Nespresso:
    - 4 cups per day
    - $2.5 per day average coffee cost
    - 2920 coffees (23kg of 8g pods) over 2 years (how long Philips warranty is) x0.6 = $1752
    - works out to be $76/kg running cost

    Philips:
    - cost $943
    - coffee use/cost?

From what I have read its using between 8-16g per shot. With 12g average, its 35kg over 2 years. With $30/kg of decent local coffee, it works out to be $1050. So its pretty comparable to $1752 of coffee pods but with better quality coffee beans.
If machine lasts over 2 years without needing repairs, its a bonus =)
Or can buy a $700 machine every 2 years and be on par with Nespresso

    • +2

you might be under valuing your ability to use your choice of beans :-)

    • at $2.50/day for 4 cups I assume you are using generic pods?

      Given "2920 coffees (23kg of 8g pods) over 2 years (how long Philips warranty is) x 0.6 " = $1752

If you price it on cheapest Nespresso pods (0.77) then = $2248.40

So then it is closer to $1200 difference over 2 years.

As @Maestrok said though, it is more the ability to choose whatever beans you would like.

Mind you, if you want a choice of beans you could use the self-filling pods with your own choice of grind?

      • I tried but you can never pack it as well and you cannot have coffee when you want, as you need to spend time filling, cleaning etc
I am using Starbucks pods, which are Nespresso made and of decent taste. Other generic ones are too watery. They often sell for $5/10 at WW, but using $6/10 as average, as sometimes they are more expensive
And it's not $1200 difference but $200, as coffer beans themselves cost $1000, plus a cost of a machine

        • $1200 difference in Operating expenditure (OPEX).

Even with the $943 CAPEX (Capital expenditure) you are still ahead. Plus if you are working from home, the coffee machine could be a plausible tax deduction…

          • @Tiggrrrrr: You base it on the Nespresso pods prices.
I have no way to recover the cost of the machine. There plenty of used Nespresso machines around that are super cheap or free
I just worry that my investment in to the machine would spend half its life in the repair shop =)

            • @SAU: I based on original Nespresso pods as IMHO Most Nespresso compatible pods taste disgusting. Well more disgusting. Only Starbucks one I dont mind is Pike Place. However, if you like Starbucks, then Amazon usually has good deals, especially for subscribe and save.

As for refillable, you can fill them in advance and store in an airtight container in a cool place. I know someone that does this for the week in advance. Tastes ok, but still Nespresso.

A good $700 machine is far superior to Nespresso. After all, it is just Nestle at the end at the day. Blend 43 anyone?

  • +2

    I can’t do the math, but that’s a lot of $1 7/11 coffees

  • -1

I think that this was way cheaper in December.

    • I am not sure but there are 3 models and it was $999 around that time. Model 2200 was around $500.

Recently Philips increased the price to $1,199 and then Amazon reduced the price to $943.

    • Another one with incorrect thoughts - camelx3 clearly shows this is cheapest price - hope this helps?

  • -1

I think cheaper on TGG commercial

    • Can you please upload or send me screenshot of TGG commercial product page. I will see if TGG can price match it. Thanks

      • His thoughts are wrong - its $945

        • Plus $8 post for me

  • +1

FYI homies, I had ordered this coffee machine in January second week and still waiting for Amazon to deliver it. Amazon/Philips have no clues when the stock might be available for delivery. So just be mindful if you are planning to order this one

    • Did you pay $999 or less??

      • camelx3 shows it was $943 in Jan

      • Yeah, I paid $943 for this

    • Can you let us know when you do receive yours?, I ordered mine 10/2 … still waiting.

      • I sure will!

  • I’ve placed my order on TGG commercial for $945+8 delivery last week (when Amazon jacked price to $1199 for a few days) also on back order.

  • I have received $51 in shopback as well which reduced the purchase price to $892 :)

    • That’s a good one. Amazon won’t charge you before they despatch I think?

      • Amazon wouldn’t charge if you have used a debit/credit card for payment until the shipment, I had used amazon gift cards balance and it was deducted the time I had purchased.

        • Cool. Thanks for that.
Will they charge the amount at the time of purchase? or the amount at the time of despatch? In case the price goes up when it's back in stock.

          • @mrgeckoz: I believe they charge at the time of the dispatch for card payments but that is not the price is locked in at the time of purchase so if the price goes up when it’s back in stock that’s not gonna impact us

      • They will deduct money if you selected gift card as payment but not if you select debit or credit card.

They lock the price at the time of order placed but only charge you when they dispatch your stock.

This happened with me when I placed order for Glenmorangie 18 yrs.

  • I ordered mine Feb 10, still waiting. Nobody knows an ETA. Ridiculous

    • Due to global chip shortages? Maybe?

  • Guys, amazon has been taken off from list of retailers for 4300, only available at TGG and Bing Lee for now. FYI https://www.philips.com.au/c-e/ho/coffee/4300-lattego#produc…

    • Not a good sign… plus TGG is not selling in-store. I don't see Philips will gain popularity like this. They need more retailers.

      • Agreed. Like HN, JB and Mayer at least.
I’ve ordered mine through TGG commercial two weeks ago, on back order, rang them and no idea when it’s arriving.

  • Showing in stock at TGG

    • TGG says online only I think? I still haven’t received any updates on my order.

      • Sorry my bad. If you check this link, click on 'Where to buy'

        https://www.philips.com.au/c-e/ho/coffee/4300-lattego#produc…

        • Yeah I’ve posted this in comments earlier.
          BingLee has been removed too!

          • @mrgeckoz: Scroll slightly down where it says looking for another coffee machine

You will see 3 machines, click on where to buy in there and you will see all 3 retailers and it says In-Stock next to TGG name

            Or press Where to Buy

            • @sonu1111: Yeah I saw that, not accurate though.
My order was placed in Feb and no sign of despatch anytime soon…

    • No warranty and different plug I guess?

  • If there's no eta by end of month I mite get this, although it's like double the price.

    https://www.delonghi.com/en-au/ecam610-75-mb-primadonna-soul…

    • I looked at this as well, very fancy machine with phone connectivity et, but the milk carafe isn’t as easy as the LatteGo…

      • Also I think the grinder is made from stainless steel vs ceramic with the philips.

        • Which one is better?

  • +2

Rang TGG just then and was told 41 people across the country have ordered this machine, and 0 in stock at the moment. They also mentioned ports and logistics are working at 20% load. ETA first week of April. I guess Amazon will be in a similar situation there. Let’s wait and see!

  • Apparently Amazon and BingLee is still authorised retailer for 4300.
If you click on the where to buy button and it will show three retailers.
    https://www.philips.com.au/c-e/ho/coffee/4300-lattego

Let’s see who gets the stock first!

  • I ordered this about a month ago. I got tired of waiting so I cancelled my order only for it be on stock now. Did anyone got their orders delivered?

    • Ordered mine late Feb has still no update. Both Amazon and BingLee are showing in stock. Hopefully will despatch soon!

      • Money got deducted today and it will be dispatched soon.

        I am so happy :)

    • Estimated time on Amazon is coming 6th April

  • Guys, Mine has just been dispatched. Ordered 10th of Feb.

  • Same here, just got the message! It has been dispatched, arriving 30th March!

  • Same Here. Got the message that it has been dispatched from Melbourne and will be delivered by 5th April

  • Lucky you, guys!
Mine ordered through TGG commercial late Feb no sign of despatch yet…

    • Did you get any update on your order through TGG

      • nope, rang them today and was told no updates what so ever.
I told them people bought the same unit from Amazon are being delivered, the reply was I can cancel my order anytime and buy it else where…very disappointing.

        • That's really bad customer service :(

          • @sonu1111: Order status updated from “stock back ordered” to “stock reserved”, rang them and was told very likely to be delivered next Monday. Woohoo! I hope it’s not April fools…

            • @mrgeckoz: OMG received an email and order shipped!!!!!!!!!!

  • Which beans are you guys going to try with it?, what are some good ones available from Coles / Woolworths.

    • +1

My personal favorite is Lavazza, tried most blends and most suit my taste. On half price quite often too.

    • +1

I am gonna give the Aldi lazzio medium roast a go first!

    • +1
      • +1

These are $19ish in coles/woolies when half price, with good best before dates, usually 8 months +

        • Damn… I paid $25.14

Will keep an eye now. Thanks

          • @sonu1111: Yeah man, make sure you stock up during half prices. Most 1kg coffee beans from coles/woolies go on half price sale every now and then.

  • Hey hey! Mine just got delivered by Auspost! 🥳 Good luck for yours, guys!

    • Let us know how it is when you have given it a spin.

I received my machine today, I've made about 7 drinks. Initial impressions are very good. Fast to heat up + quality of the coffee it produces is better than expected, actually probably better than some of the cafes around me. Also the coffee is actually hot, not luke warm like alot of machines + the customizable settings are easy to adjust. It produces quality cappuccinos so far. Still plenty to try out + learn, will see how it goes.

I bought these beans. I did want to get Lavazza but was sold out. These are pretty good though + on sale atm.

    Hope this helps.
Even though said ideal for French press and moka pot, I’ve used this previously in delonghi automatic, tastes well.

  • I received my machine today (a week earlier than expected date of delivery). Made few coffee on different settings.

First thing I have noticed that coffee actually comes hot.

    • Isn’t that a good thing?

All I can do now is watch you guys enjoy the new machine and I have to wait until TGG tells me when they have an idea of ETA…

      • Yes. One thing I didn't like about delonghi was coffee never use to come hot.

😞 TGG should lift their game. Hope you get your machine soon 🙏

        • We have a delonghi in the office and the coffee comes out quite hot. You can adjust the temperature in settings, low-mid-high from memory.

          Hopefully within April, LOL!!!

  • Anyone bought the maintenance stuff?, if so which vendor did you buy from. I couldn't find it on Philips AU store.

Philips/Saeco Coffee oil remover tablets (CA6704)
    Descaling solution (CA6700)
Philips Calc and Water Filter - 1x AquaClean Filter CA6903/10

    • Available on Amazon.

  • In delonghi machine, used coffee use to come out in circular cakes but in philips, it is not

Is it happening with anyone else??

    • Mine are like hockey pucks.

    • I did but of research and many users are having the same problem - sludge like used grounds. And many said it’s getting better after cups and cups, referring to the “self learning” of super automatic machines.
My first 10 coffees were pretty bad, and got better since then.
