  • Nice, but "Your Google Drive is not ready yet"

    • Your partly right! The fix is to change your language settings to US!
Just worked for me in one of my accounts.. Strange thing is its not working on my secondary gmail account

      Hmmm…..

lol!…you haven't even started and you need a fix and you have an email that doesn't work with it!
After all… "it's about quality of service not quantity!!!

  • +4

i dont think this is available for all accounts

  • +13

Isn't this just advertising the product?

Seems no different from posting free Gmail signups.

  • +7

Do I sense an M$ hater?

  • +3

This is free as was skydrive, both are forum topics imo. Skydrive was free upgrade to 25gb for existing users, this is free upgrade to 5g for all users.

Lol @ OP "easily the most superior cloud based service". Obvious troll is obvious.

Google Drive is a decent product, but far from the best (for now anyway). Check out this comparison of cloud based storage services to get a feel for how it stacks up.

Anyway, like others have said, not really a bargain/deal, more like an ad.

    • That's a really good comparison thing, though I found a mistake - SugarSync does have an associated android app.

  • +1

I don't think this can really be called a bargain.

  • +4

Why is this even a deal? Its just their standard product that will be rolled out to everyone with a google account. Also note that Gmail is bumped up to 10GB from 7.5GB as well.

The Skydrive "free" 25GB non-downgrade is sort of a deal, its time limited and it served the purpose of alerting skydrive users to sign on and keep their 25GB.

    • +1

I agree with you on that the skydrive deal alerts users, but Google Drive is a new product.

      • +1

True, but its being reported in every tech media outlet and possibly even wider, and there is no time limit. I reckon Ozbargain should be limited to more specific deals, especially ones with limited availability (time or quantity). Posting Dropbox's 5gb beta upgrade would be a deal, but posting their 2GB free account is not.

Also its gone up in price
    Old Price
    20 GB - 5 USD per year
    80 GB - 20 USD per year
    200 GB - 50 USD per year
    400 GB - 100 USD per year
    1 TB - 256 USD per year
    2 TB - 512 USD per year
    4 TB - 1024 USD per year
    8 TB - 2048 USD per year
    16 TB - 4096 USD per year

    New Price
    25 GB - 29.88 per year
    100 GB - 59.88 per year

    • They've grandfathered the old plans (you can keep them as long as you don't forget to renew/keep your payment details valid). Glad I signed up for one before the price increase!

    • 16TB? This is madness!

  • Google drive is available 4 me! :)

  • not available for either of my accounts yet…

  • So?

  • Neg just for the comment, keep ur trolls out next time -_-

    Also if anyone is interested,
    http://www.neowin.net/news/comparing-skydrive-and-google-dri…

    • Good read in regards to T&C comparison. As with most of the comments to the article, I'm uncomfortable with google scanning and indexing everything I upload (this is the same reason I don't use gmail… call me old fashioned, but I like privacy).

  • "Your Google Drive is not ready yet"

  • +3

    Anyway…I can't find the bargain?

    • +2

      Neither can I

      • Maybe we need to google the bargain?

  • Bargain?

  • 5gb isn't a bargain. Google docs was already 5gb

Also not available for iOS is a negative

    Google Drive is available for:
    PC and Mac
    iPhone and iPad (coming soon)
    Android devices

I like how balanced you are both in the title and description.

  • "It's about quality of service not quantity!!!"

Umm I'm pretty sure when it comes to cloud storage, quantity is key. Not to mention SkyDrives quality is fantastic lol.

      Hi!!!

"This is easily the most superior cloud based service."

    How so?

  • use a US proxy to sign up ;)

  • -6

I am just going to give a plus vote for trying…

    • Seems nobody returned the favor

  • They didn't give enough free storage IMO. Also their paid plans were quite cheap but now quite expensive..

  • Troll, plus forum topic
    here

  • He he, google fanboy fail

  • Once you exclude the names to avoid personal bias, I don't see how anyone could consider 'free 5GB' at all superior to 'free 25GB' (or for everyone else, 7GB). What planet do you live on?
(also you claim it's superior service… well you haven't said anything about how it's superior!)

    • Mate, get over it! It's free and it integrates with gmail and is more flexible.. What do u want? A free turtle neck skivvy?

So ur questioning google being superior to skydrive? Lol please…

  • Haha funny thing is had the OP not decided to give his/her biased commentary (which adds nothing to the deal), this would have been much better recieved. For such a big google fan, ironically in the tags it says iCloud (which is an apple product not google lol).

  • -2

Seeing as the OP is such a Google fanboi, maybe he could explain how awesome Google+ is.

    • -1

      People still use 'fanboi'?

  • I'm quite the google fanboy myself and I find your post somewhere between sad and hilarious… Get a grip on yourself man.

And PS google were never known for quality.. At least not at launch of any of their products.

    • Well it's very well integrated and no I dont need Dropbox.. Just one all in one service..
      There too
Many cloud solutions out there now..
Have u actually used it or are u just going off everyone else's comments without any of your own experience??

  • If it wasn't for the google fanboism, this would have 300+ votes lol.

I wouldn't call it superior but convenient, as many people already have gmail/youtube accounts.

  • I wonder what would Google will do about copyright material uploaded to its cloud.
