Colour Laser Printer Recommendations for WFH

Hi,

Working from home full time and used to having the big office printers.

What is a good alternative for something at home that is reasonably priced? i.e. < $600. Happy to stretch the budget a little for something significantly better

  • A3/A4 printing compatible
  • Wireless capability
  • Double sided scanning (feeder) is a must
  • Colour/mono
  • Cheap aftermarket toner available

The best I can find is Brother MFC-L3770CDW but goes without A3 availability.

Mostly for documents so high printing quality (i.e. photos etc) is not really required.

Thanks!

    Yep. Brother is the choice.

The only A3 multi functions I've come across that were home grade and therefore within your budget were inkjets. I think you'll either need to up the budget to a business grade machine or drop the A3 requirement if you want laser.

  • Agree Brother MFC's are the beast, Usually you can get cheaper 2nd hand ones. I've got 9320CW its awesome, and only paid like $50 or something for it from marketplace/gumtree somewhere

  • My wfh setup with My office laptop, we need to connect to vpn therefore i cant use my local wifi network wifi. Anyone has idea how to bypass? (Well i can email to my gmail, open it with personal laptop and print, but thats not ideal)

  • What about an ex-lease commercial machine?

Most commercial printing suppliers have heaps of older models that work perfectly fine but have been upgraded due to contracts ending (i.e. 5yrs) and might be ideal for your needs.

May not be particularly compact, but it'll be built for heavy-duty use!

  • I think you pay a lot if you want A3 and colour in laser. You could buy an A3 inkjet and print on high resolution paper for graphics and standard copy paper for text. High resolution paper is brilliant, it's basically photo paper. It'll impress anyone that might need to see these printouts.

  • I used to think I wanted an A3 laser, but since pdf is almost universal I see no need. If I need large format Officeworks is never that far, they print up to A0 very economically.

Keep in mind the consumables for an A3 laser would be more that your total budget, and probably unavailable aftermarket due to the much lower production volumes. The drum and toner cartridges need to be physically wider for A3.

  • How often do you need to print in A3 or colour?
