  • They can do PPS over USB A?

  • +2

【4.8A, 24W Total High-Power with Smart Control】USB-A max up to 12W. Total output 24W (the actual current is decided by the demand for the devices)

Don’t think this has PD PPS

    Also available in white. https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09P646383

      Thanks !!!!!!

This is what happens when people latch onto brand names… it's just a generic powerboard with a few USB ports for way too much.

    • +5

Got an example of something similar for cheaper? I do like this wall mount style but would prefer to save money.

      • +1

I missed that this had surge protection - though it's completely unspecified - but even then there's been a long history of 8-port surge-protected boards with 2-4 USB ports for $18-$20 on OzB.

This is a good example: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/cyberpower-cpsurge08usb…

I think there's also been some decent Huntkey deals.

so what is better for the price?

      • +7

Nothing much as far as I can recall, I think the main issue is that this power board comes at a price point that’s inbetween cheap power boards and premium boards. Premium boards tend to offer surge protection and warranties for expensive electronics while cheap boards are just… cheap. They’re better suited for regular use and this board doesn’t fit in those two categories of use cases. Why not spend less money and get a cheaper board or spend more money and get a premium board.
There’s nothing wrong with it, imo but I think that’s what some people would consider

        • kmart has one for $8 with surge protection

  • For $33.17 I’d go for the sansai one on amazon - has been popular on ozbargain before. And at least they actually have reviews

    • Am curious about this too. Have two of the Sansai - one with the 20w Usb C PD and for near on same pricing unsure the differences really

    • Is this the one with the blue light led switch? If so, i can recommend it BUT not for places like the bedroom. The lights from those LEDs are way too bright.

      • Well, I don't know why but now blue LEDs are almost everywhere and they are really problems in the dark.

      • +2

I usually get white electrical tape and layer it until its not as bright. Its thin enough to diffuse the light into a more soft glow than a bright beam but its not opaque enough to black out the entire led.

        • I've got and stickers called "Light Dims". Overpriced but they do work pretty well

    • +2

Nah, I would never touch Sansai again. Bought one and was very happy with it except that the power indicator was blue, which annoyed me a little bit. Since it was cheap and I did not expect warranty etc., so I decided to open it and replace the LED. That decision saved me from starting a fire at home. When I tried to open it, I noticed it was using some anti-tampering screws. Hmmm, first time to see that in powerboards really, but no problem for me as I happened to have matching screw driver bits. After opening it, the construction was eye-opening. Seemed they tried to save 1 copper plate on the contacts by making contact and the plug plates inserting into a gap cut on the contact plates. So instead of typical surface contact most of us would expect, it was actually line contact. It would be okay if you only use some light duty appliances on it. But if you plug in something requires claimed 10A current, for sure a fire would be started.

Damn wonder what the other cheaper options like Click or whatever is available at Bunnings would be like then. I will just patiently wait for another sub $50 belkin 8 port special to roll through again.

      • When I tried to open it, I noticed it was using some anti-tampering screws. Hmmm, first time to see that in powerboards really

        Hmm I haven't seen a power board that doesn't use anti-tamper screws.

So instead of typical surface contact most of us would expect, it was actually line contact.

That's intruiging, did you take a photo?

    • I recently bought a Sansai one which came with a USB-C port. Broke after about 3 weeks. Sent it back for replacement. Quality isn't great on Sansai.

  • Anyone recommend a hub with usb c ports?

  • +3

Yes, I would definitely recommend getting one with usb c ports.

  • Why do these guys never put USB C ports in their surge boards?

  • i like the fact they claim the screw mount system is unique
never have i ever seen that on a power board before :P

  • Individual switch for each plug else no deal. Why is there none of that good stuff?

    • Even Belkin ones are not individually switched. So, good luck finding a decent one in the <$100 price bracket.

      • its a scam, you can easily get something like this overseas under $100. Belkin is a ripoff
