Stay Away from These Company...

my friend and i bought a groupon deal from www.groupon.com.au
its a smoothie blender from this company www.missinginaction.com.au

it was purchased via paypal last Feb 28. the groupon voucher says 5 weeks to deliver.

until now, we never received the item. tried to lodge a dispute with paypal but paypal says only within 45days that they can entertain a dispute.

this company never replied to our emails after the 5th week.
you can't call them because there are no phone numbers.

groupon.com.au is a joke, very hard to call, waiting time of over 30mins, they will just say email the company. they will never help you. that is how they treated us.

stay away from this 2 sites
www.groupon.com.au
www.missinginaction.com.au

we learned our lesson the hard way
go for those reputable company and make sure that it has a contact number before buying. and make sure they will deliver within 2 weeks max, then lodge a complain to paypal after 2 weeks.

you are entitled to a full refund from groupon if the company can't deliver in a reasonable time-frame. your local fair trading organisation should be able to help you.

    apparently very aptly named :)

So you paid for the item and the delivery time stated was 5 weeks. Why didn't you lodge the dispute straight after with paypal. You had 10 days before the 45 day period was up. If money was taken out of your CC even though u used paypal then contact your CC company and do a chargeback. Also contact ACCC and get them to intervene. Make a complaint on Groupons facebook and things start happening faster.

    • This.

    • I guess these guys knows what they are doing
After 5 weeks, we sent an email asking about our order
Then this 'Darron Levin' [email protected] sent an email dated 1-april saying they have dispatched our order via eparcel and ETA 1-7 business days.

So after we got tired of waiting, too late to lodge a dispute to paypal.

Dodgy company has No phone number, now doesnt even replies to emails, most likely enjoying his quick money overseas, who knows if its even a legit company or not?

      • In future don't wait for a reply. Send a query email and start a dispute straight away. All communication after that can happen through paypal.

      • They have an ABN with a PO BOX in Crows Nest NSW and the registered office is in Rozelle NSW
so shouldn't be that hard to get more info
        (all gleaned off 1 search)

Good Luck hope for a good outcome for you.

        • all fake information about MIA (Darron Levin) he is a pretend operator with fake information. Stay away from doing any work with him as he has loan sharks after him at the moment.

  • Maybe they really did send it via eParcel…

    • We did ask vua email when they posted it, even asking for tracking #, but sad to say, no more email reply from them, i guess the company really fits their name
'Missinginaction' now our blender is MIA.

  • problem with groupon, they take ages for the redbull sim to be posted, in the end it came and they do answer emails.
Spreets on the other hand is worst of the crop, no answer from emails.

  • I had the same experience with groupon — there appear to be some phoenix/scam companies out there setup specifically to exploit these deals websites. they often don't even don't have a working business, just a website with no working contact info.

best response in these cases — go to uVent.com.au and lodge two complaints, for both the deals site and the merchant.

  • These deal sites are quick to wash their hands of these merchandise orders. The RRPs are invariably dodgy.

On merchandise items, I reckon you can get a better deal by buying from some company direct. The merchandise is usually no name crap with no workable/legitimate warranty.

I purchased from Glo on the gold coast in Feb. Vouchers are about to expired and after trying hundreds of times over the months I haven't been able to get them on the phone to make a booking. Groupon won't answer calls or email either. Guess I'll have to take it office of fair trade and every forum online.

  • does groupon have a fb account?
i ordered the same thing from cudo. came after 5 weeks DOA. so msg cudo on fb and got a reply and credit the next day.

    hi all,
just to be fair with groupon.com.au and missinginaction.com.au
i finally received the item the other day, just after 3months of waiting.

  • I ordered my two SDHC Memory cards on 17 July 2012 and the response that I receive from their email team is that they will deliver it within this week which I am sure is not going to happen as they have been sending me that response from past 2 months. I have already given them more than 8 weeks now to deliver the item. I have lodged a dispute with American Express to get my money refunded, disgusting and third class customer service. Stay away from this company. I also had the same kind of third class experience with Suredeal.com.au and I had to get Bankwest involved to get my money refunded.

    • "I ordered my two SDHC Memory cards on 17 July 2012"

Think about how far/much SDHC Memory prices have dropped in the past two months.

Also, when/if you finally receive your cards, make sure to run a test program. Some have reported receiving faulty/fake cards and/or cards that do not reach the claimed Class 10 specs.

I would never buy from Groupon again!

Has anyone out there been ripped off by Groupon? We went trekking in Nepal earlier this year on a deal that included accomm, meals and internal flights. Despite booking 5 months in advance, they managed to bugger up our flights and book them on the wrong day! This caused us to be stuck in a town 2,000m above sea level with no $$$, no working ATM, very few English speakers where we had to cover our own costs because the company didn't care! The only reason we got out after 3 days (and not be stuck there for a further 6/7 days), was to charter a $3,500 helicopter. The company and Groupon have taken '0' responsibility! I've been fighting with Groupon for over 5 weeks now and it's going know-where… NOT GOOD ENOUGH!

They have this terrible customer service system where I can only ever speak to one girl! so if she's not around or doesn't respond, the case just sits there. I haven't heard anything for 2 weeks now and know-one else will speak to me, nor can I even get a name of another person to speak to because (it's been assigned to this particular person whose name I won't mention)!

Any-one else feeling ripped off by Groupon right bout now?

we should put an end to these kinds of company. have you tried calling the consumer affairs? if that happens to me im not sure what im going to do. any free legal advice from the group?

      • They are on the way out. I probably spent over $20000 with them when they first came to Perth (they being all group buying companies.)

I have spent less than $500 in the last year.

Mostly this is due to crap offerings.

Good luck to you, hope you get some justice

    • I'm interested in your story, you should seriously consider taking them to the CTTT if you are in NSW or its equivalent.

  • Yes indeed stay away from Missing In Action - Darron Levin, he is a con artisits, that owns alot of money in Sydney and around Australia. Alot of people are chasing him for payments etc, and he keeps on saying that is in hospital, which has been the case for about 8 months now (which is a lie because he has been seen around). So if you see any of his products do not purchase as he will not answer his emails or if he owns you money, good luck because you have no chance of seeing it again, like myself.

    • Unhappy, do you know him personally ? I've been trying to get hold of him for months. What did you lend him money for?

  • If the shop name is 'missing in action' you can't complain about false advertising

  • I too am looking for this individual. Would be happy to share information or help out anyone who is doing likewise.

  • a. FYI: Groupon is part of Group Buying Code: http://www.adma.com.au/comply/group-buying-code/. They seem to be the regulatory. Maybe you could ask them for advice along with ACCC.

    b. Messaging on fb has definately worked in past. Not sure if that is still effective anymore as facebook now allows the admin of page to delete post. So, wouldn't be surprised if it just gets deleted.

  • If anyone is currently looking for this fellow, feel free to contact me by PM.
