Still cannot believe it’s this cheap 😭 F in the chat for my bros (or sisses) who bought from banggood. I think this may be the lowest price for the 8/256 model. Was contemplating upgrading myself but I’m too deep in the 🍎 ecosystem. Enjoy!

9/3 update: small price drop from $421.29 to $416.59.

  • I just need a new phone, not asking the earth, just a good value android phone. Is this a massive updgrade on my LG v30+ ? Anyone ?

    • Tbh its where i am coming from, sometimes i get stutter or some things take a couple seconds to load probably because i have apps in background i guess…

But at the end of the day, do you need to upgrade? Is your phone currently doing what you need without issue?

Honestly if yes keep current, there will always be next model or sale you can scoop up

    • But based on benchmarks from nano review
Cpu single core is 157% better
      multi is 98% better
      gameing 276% better

      To give some numbers

  • I have the 6gb version and loving it for what I use it for. For me its been better then the pixel 6 (dropped) and Samsung S10 I used before.

  • Price dropped a few dollars for both black and blue.

  • +1

I got the Xiaomi Note 10 pro (had the note 9 pro prior but I dropped it until it died unfortunately). I absolutely love it. 120Hz screen, 2 sim card slots plus an sd card slot, audio jack, IR blaster, NFC and good battery life. It didnt have wireless charging.

The poco is usually slightly better specs wise (for the same price) but might miss a few things above, most of which isn't a big deal. I'm not going back to a flagship phone for a while now. Xaiomi mid tier phones have earned their reputation

    • +1

Poco F3 has the better processor, the "Redmi" Note 10 Pro has the better camera. If MIUI works for you, these are probably the 2 best bang for you buck phones on the market.

      • Any recommendations for a non MIUI phone?

  • The black version's price has dropped further, now $416.59, making the deal even sweeter. I cannot cancel my order as it's prepared for shipping already, but an AMZ rep has issued a $5 to my gift balance.

Btw, has anyone had problems with tracking with Shopback? It's been almost 24 hours and my order's still not tracked yet.

    • +1

Thanks, received $5 credit from Amazon rep as well. Regarding your shopback, it usually takes a couple of days for me to receive an email about the transaction. Nevertheless, I'm not too sure if shopback will qualify any money back for this item as it falls into 'Electronics' which shows 0.00% for this category. I may be wrong though.

      • Mobile Phones is listed at 2% for both Shopback and Cashrewards, Mobile Phones is subcategory of Electronics making that 2% unattainable?

      • How did you do it?
Amazon rep told me that they don't do price match, so there is nothing they could do

The only suggest to return the phone when I receive it and buy it again with the low price.

  • I bought one about a month ago off banggood. Sideloaded a custom ROM (CrDroid 8.2 [12.0]) and its a beauty, no more bloatware, a fresh copy of Nano Gapps and it felt just like a Pixel. Camera is meh, even with Gcam but I can live with it.

    • What's your reasoning behind using a custom ROM? When looking into these I often find they don't support all the features of the phone and the updates seem harder to do than stock. Otherwise they look pretty cool.

      • +2

There are many reasons to use custom ROMs. My main reason is that I always found MIUI to be buggy, a resource hog and unpredictable. Some custom ROMs, for example, like Pixel Experience I am running on my Mi9T, work flawlessly, giving the user the best hardware for value (Xiaomi) mixed with the best software (in my case, Pixel stock). Updates are OTA, come monthly (instead of the ad-hoc 3 monthly MIUI updates) and the good custom ROMs work flawlessly with all apps (like banking & streaming). There are always risks, such as bricking a device or receiving an update that requires you to format the phone thus losing apps/data, etc., but most modders believe it's worth the effort.

        • Thanks I was more worried about things like the it blaster and say dual Sim card not being supported, especially without Xiaomi stock apps being available. But that sounds really good. I might look into that.

Do you know if it still allows things like volte/vo-wifi to work, at least from your experience?

Tempted to pull the trigger but have no complaints with my P30.. yet.

  • Got one, thanks mate.

  • does this phone have wifi calling..mobile coverage at my home is really patchy..hence require wifi calling to make receive calls…

  • Now $416.59 probably due to exchange rates New lowest price ever for the 8/256 model according to CamelCamelCamel. Flagship phone without the flagship price.
I bought 2, one for my brother and one for me upgrading from Oneplus 6 and 8 respectively. I've been on Oneplus since the Oneplus 5 but it's time for a change.

  • Blue price gone up and 1 left

  • Can someone explain to me how a year old phone with the exact same processor as the Motorola Edge 20 Pro is 800-900aud retail?

I mean, I understand better software, better cameras, some more premium features here and there.. but more than double the price? And with a worse security update policy?

    • The Edge 20 Pro is overpriced at $899 but it was $599 at JB a few weeks ago. You mentioned better software & better cameras, also add more RAM & local 2yr waranty, it does make the Edge 20 Pro the slightly better phone but… No way is it worth double the Poco F3. Motorola are kidding themselves.

      • +1

Not to mention 2 year local warranty is rather pointless if there is going to be only 1 extra year of security updates.

This F3 also has a 2 year Amazon warranty. I just refuse to buy a phone that cuts corners in the proximity sensor and has a truckload of software issues. Sadly there does not seem to be anything for me under 600-900, even when I could not care less about the camera or gaming (all I ask is dual-band gps, nfc, a decent battery and a smooth system experience -so high refresh rate and a good enough processor-).

There are actually affordable phones with those features (Realme, OnePlus…) but they are not available with local warranty, and here it's either a discount Motorola 20 pro (which I'm not getting for over 600, and that's still a stretch for 200 more than the F3) or pay way up for a buggy Pixel 6 with an unnecessarily good camera or an Oppo.

        The Aussie market sucks =)

        • How about the Samsung A52s 5G, if top notch gaming and camera aren't important to you. It's often under $500 (was $448 last week at Telstra), has a 120Hz AMOLED screen, great battery, excellent UI, many years of software/security updates, local warranty, a decent camera with OIS and the SD778.

          • @sinners007: Thought about it, but it does not have dual-band gps and, most importantly, the cheaper Samsung models have the same bullshit lack of proximity sensor as the Xiaomis.

If it were not for that, I would have bought Samsung long ago. Served me well in the past.

I'm actually considering an Oppo find x3 Lite as a longer software support alternative to the motorola, but they are quite pricey for some average hardware. It's the cheapest recent dual-band gps phone I can find in Australian retailers.

  • +1

Sounds like LineageOS is the way to go for this phone, I'm using it on my Samsung Note 3 it's been smooth so far.

Bought one at this unbeatable price. Instead of a tablet I ended up buying this phone to use as a gaming phone, shared between the kids and I using profiles. I can give them limited screen time with it, great stuff.

    • Crazy! I ordered mine on Tuesday, March 8, and they attempted delivery today at 2:30 pm! I am in Adelaide. Unfortunately, no one was at home because I wasn't expecting to have any deliveries by the end of this week. Damn it LOL.

See the screenshot if you need a proof

      • Yeah that's crazy quick alright.

Ordered mine on Wednesday but mines gone from Heathrow through half of Germany atm.

Edit. Scheduled my delivery to be dropped off at local newsagent incase not home

        • Although I scheduled it to be delivered to a pick up point, it came today to my home address.
Odd being a public holiday here but luckily was home.

        • Didn't order mine until Friday morning and it arrived at Heathrow the same day and still appears to be there today (Monday).

      • Crazy! I ordered mine on Tuesday, March 8,

        That is quick

      • Lucky you.
Mine still in CINCINNATI HUB - USA
        ETA 16/3

        • Mine still in CINCINNATI HUB - USA

          USA? UK to USA first?

  • For those who own this phone, (or a RN10), how bad is the proximity sensor under normal usage?

It's the only thing that has put me off upgrading.

    • +1

This guy responds to that question in this video https://youtu.be/wPoStS9Mftc?t=580

      • +2

Thanks for time stamping the link.

It hasn't completely convinced me, (that owners with issues should get their device hardware checked), as the issue was big enough that Xiaomi ended the contract with that supplier. However it's still such a bargain!

        • +1

There were enough complaints about it on the Poco subreddit that I canceled my purchase. I don’t want to have to deal with glitchy calls when that’s the main purpose of a phone lol.

          • +1

@trulymadly: Absolutely :) I'll report back in here if it's an issue and has to go back under warranty.

            • @zappa: I hope you are lucky and don’t experience too many issues with it! For any others interested, I’ll link the particular Reddit post that changed my mind. Notably some of the users haven’t had issues or have workarounds but I couldn’t go through with the purchase.

  • Is this enough of an upgrade over the Poco X3 NFC? Mines starting to glitch out and get really slow..

  • +1

It's not expired. Still showing as available at $416

  • 581.95 now.

  • Got mine delivered yesterday (Vic) !! that was quick

  • Mine was delivered today! Took 5 days It was super fast, couldn't be happier.

I've been using it today, pretty snappy, so far so good. It plays Genshin Impact, happy days.

Although I had to enable developer mode to access the Multiple Users option.

    • How is the proximity sensor?

  • yay, just got mine today. now to set it up. and will try to debloat it.

  • Is it dual sim. I could not find it on the Amazon specs.

  • Got mine delivered this morning. It arrived at Sydney on 14/Mar and didn't get delivered by their 3rd party delivery guy (status forwarded for delivery since the 14th) until today. Though still much earlier than the initial estimation (the 29th) so no complaint.

  • MIUI 13 update just became available on my F3.
