These Genio Wi-Fi plugs are terrible. I had a lamp plugged into one, after 5 minutes it'd just turn off, and when I'd try to turn it back on, straight back off. Forget charging anything with the USB ports, too; same sort of problems.

I had it replaced, new one did the exact same thing, so I ended up getting a refund.

    • sounds like it's worst than tp-link

    • I bought one a few months ago and my experience is the same. Was using it to schedule the lights on my fish tank. Worked fine to begin with but after a couple of weeks, it started turning off or on randomly. Ended up removing it and going back to using a digital timer.

Just threw one out after a few months use. Suddenly it kept turning on and off, unplugged then could never revive it.

  • Anyone got these working with home assistant?

Yep I do, works great with mine!

    • Yup same, must have the new firmware so couldn't flash with tuya convert but local tuya working fine as well as cloud.

  • I have a number of similar devices from Tuya and they have all worked fine for me.

Just curious has anyone attempted a firmware update on the plug?

    • I had a go but it must have the new firmware that stops tuya convert. It was my first one so connected to Tuya smart app first to double check if it had power monitoring.
Perhaps a fatal mistake as it may have pulled the new firmware in that process.

  • I'm not going to say they are crap, however I had one fail after basically no use (wouldn't switch/relay failed), and I can hear all of them have a high pitched whine (ok if they are tucked behind something, however if you are susceptible to high pitched tones, you'll hear it.

    • Good to know, nearly grabbed a couple of th se yesterday… the high pitch whine would have done my head in.

The deal still has not expired it is still on the Woolworths website: https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/80169

    • thanks, my local store said it starts from 2/3-29/3, updated, :)

  • Working ok with Google home so far.

  • I think its better to get
Xiaomi Mijia Smart Socket 2 WiFi Gateway… its also $15, it just take a while to get delivered.

you get power meter, schedule, its a bluetooth gateway, and you can do IFTTT. works nicely if you have the temperature sensor to control fans etc,

    • it depends whether you want a meter or 2 USB chargers.
