Telstra Changing My Post Paid Plan

I was told it would eventually happen, now my post paid byo plan is changing to the most comparable plan telstra have on offer. which is pretty poor to the deal I have with them at the moment. The current old plan is attractive as I have recurring credits and I would stay with Telstra if they would honour it. My gut says they won't but I want to have a think about how to go about navigating the offshore and eventual escalated onshore managers to let me keep them going forward. Has anyone had success with something like this?

  • They've been doing that a lot lately. I know a lot of oldies who don;t use data on their phones yet Telstra keeps giving them more data and bumping up the monthly fee. So I've been rolling the over to ABB mobile.

They won’t keep you on your old plan.. switch providers if you’re not happy

I'm trying to keep my recurring credits, don't care which plan I'm on.

    • Hang on to them read below πŸ‘πŸ˜

      • Yes..how to convince them though….

  • My grandfathered prepaid plan from way back Telstra decided to change,. basically removing the ability for me to accumulate $1 ctedit for every $1 of top up spending i did, well I always topped up the $50 top up to keep the plan alive for 12 months (think i received 5gb data each top up or it couldve been much more), so every top up I'd receive $50 credits (into the banked credits) which i could use for smses and other services but nope i never spent any of it the tight arse i was,.. overs 10 years I banked over $600 worth of credit

Long story short Telstra decided to compensate everyone on these plans by converting and transferring these credits into real cash into a nominated bank account

so basically every dollar I spent over 10 years plus I got back, so end of the day this prepaid service from Telstra didn't cost me a cent over 10 years, thanks Telstra

The plan had i think x amount of data yearly (my brain is trying to remember how much), simcard could receive calls, free Telstra Wifi login/password i could use on any device, free AFL subscription which costed close to $100 annually towards its demise, discounted footy & village movie tickets, plus few other perks i can't remember

Not bad when it didn't cost me a cent, those were the days πŸ‘πŸ€‘

Main reason I joined this plan was for the live AFL footy (every game too), well the $50 plan was cheaper then subscribing directly with Telstra AFL app

They kicked me off my legacy plan a while back. Was getting 10GB credit and 2 x $10 off per month so ended up with about 40GB for $30. Put me on the $65 plan or something stupid (don't need that much data) and wouldn't honor my credits. I changed to Woolies pre paid

    • That particular Telstra prepaid planned I mentioned above went from minimum annually for $50 (on older grandfathered plan) to $150 for 40gb (new plan) which I'll never pay that,. But I chatted to them last year about an issue about this plan but I don't know what they did wrong but I ended up getting for free 180gb of data for there $300 recharge lol πŸ€‘

Yupz my legacy plan ended May 2020 and upgraded to what it is now called Prepaid Mobile Broadband

Ps: handy to keep a plan of some sort with there perks like Telstra rewards etc same with Optus too with there Optus subhub, Optus sport etc
