Recommended Speaker Stands for Bookshelf Speakers

Ordered a set of Sony SS-CS5 Bookshelf Speakers to use as rear surround speakers, but struggling to find stands for them! It's a minefield of designs, some with cable management some without, some with smaller top plates. The Monolith stands get recommended, but no cable management so I dunno.

Anyone have any suggestions?!

  • Best option is to wall mount it, run the wires through the walls.

  • I struggled to find stands to desk mount a pair of bookshelf speakers. Nothing quite fit my sizing needs, nor were there nice looking or inexpensive options.

In the end I made some myself. For each stand I bought a 25mm threaded pipe and two threaded pipe flanges. I used a couple of offcuts from a wooden wine gift box for the base and platform. It probably cost me less than $30 each in the end, but I don't have exact prices as I also made a weather station/rain gauge mount with these parts too.

You might consider a slightly wider pipe and flanges if mounting as a rear set, and add some additional counterweight at the base. I didn't need to paint them to match my desk (the steel-timber aesthetic just worked) but you might need to consider this. I didn't route the cables through the pipe, but could have adjusted to do so with not much more effort.

    • Too much effort lol

I ended up deciding on the Monoprice Monolith stands. Amazon only had 1 available, so ordered that and now waiting for more stock. No rush, they're only the rears :)

      • Did you receive the Monoliths? Any good?
