Paid Vicroads Rego and Still Appears Expired

Hi everyone,
Today is the last day of my rego renewal for vicroads and I’ve already paid it 2 days ago.
Just an hour ago received an SMS from Vicroads saying that my rego is expired.
So I did an online check and BUM! My car appears as expired. But I can see from my credit card transactions that the amount is taken.

Also checked Vicroads online payment system and attempted to pay again. But the page says the payment is already done.

I suspect there is a technical issue on Vicroads system. May be some overnight data processing job is stcuk on their end.

Does anyone know if It is illegal to drive my car until the issue is sorted? Or can I use my payment receipt as evidence if police pulls over? Or even worse if I get involved in any accident?

Thanks

    You will still be able to drive given you have a receipt from payment.
    VicRoads systems are still in the stone age.

  • Did you get an actual Vic Roads payment receipt via e-mail?

    • Not yet I’m afraid. The only evidence I have is CC transaction and this message on vicroads page when I try to pay again.

      Our records show that you have already paid your registration or a payment is still being processed. Please contact VicRoads on 13 11 71 should you have any queries.”

    Yeah. You’re all good. You can drive to your hearts content.

    Make sure you come back here when you get an unregistered fine and tell us the process for getting it overturned.

    Your fine, any 👮‍♀️ that pulls you over show the receipt and you won’t have any issues

    • and give them the finger :-)

      JK.

  • If you paid it online, you should have gotten a receipt number and possibly an email stating it was paid. Print it out and leave it in your car.

    Showing the copper a page from your CC statement tells them nothing and neither does a webpage that says “you have already paid” unless either of those sources has context, ie: your rego number is associated with and referenced on the paperwork.

    Good example CC statement;

    • 14:32 9/3/22 - VicRoads #SN2957393 Reg: YOR-REG $786.89 PAID

    No good CC statement;

    • 14:32 9/3/22 - VicRoads $786.89 PAID
  • When I pay online I get a screen capture of the payment and download the receipt. It can take a few days to update in their system.

  • Thanks for all the answers. It took almost one week for VicRoads to process my payment.
    And luckly not stopped by police until it is processed.

    Actually avodied driving unless it is really necessary. Saved good amount of fuel during these expensive times :))
