VINTAGE: The 2019 growing season started with mild weather and below average rainfall. Some late spring rain provided a bit of relief from the dry conditions. A heatwave in January was luckily too early in the ripening cycle to cause any damage to the fruit. This was followed by a very mild and dry finish to the vintage, allowing good hang time and flavour development to the smaller than average crop.

STORY: Some of our McLaren Vale parcels stand out from the others, these have more intensity, tannin, and acidity. These parcels are kept separate and a higher proportion goes into new French oak. The resultant wine has fantastic complexity, length and will age well over ten years – a great one for the cellar!

NOSE: The nose offers elegant notes of cherries and raspberries with a touch of pepper and other spices, as well as some toasty oak aromas.

PALATE: The palate is rich and elegant with lots of superb fruit flavours, hints of minerality, and well-integrated oak, followed by great structure on the lingering finish.

PAIRS WITH: Try it (as I will be doing this evening) with some Grilled Kangaroo with a galic and herb rub, Turkish Pilaf & Tray Baked Summer Vegetables.

CELLARING: Drink now to 2030

      No, completely different style. Bigger, more traditional Australian style. Better quality fruit, picked a little later, more new oak, longer in oak. Hence difference in price points. Cheers! RD.

      Same thing happened to me with PayPal for the first time ever too. Maybe something to do with the value or the discount? They cleared it later in the day anyway. My wine arrived and they are definitely a good buy at this price!
