Went to the counter to pay marked price of $20 for Grosby mens slippers, and came up as $3. So I went back to check price the other that I liked as well. They were marked as $20, and came up as $7.

Can't find exact item in search, but they are both same or slightly different design as pictured but different colours.

My new rescue destroyed my moccasins, I might see if I can save up for a pair of these.

Be aware that the price is for one slipper.

      • Emotional Damage! 👞

  • Same for dressing gowns at BigW Maribyrnong: labelled $25, but was $3 when scanned at checkout. Not on website, not good quality, but $3?!

I bought a pair of these from Big W last winter and the sole separated from the upper within a few months of wear and then eventually both soles cracked open and presented big holes on the bottoms. Guess you get what you pay for with these cheap slippers, but if anyone has some recommendations on some decent quality slippers that don't contain wool or leather products that will keep the feet warm and last being worn around the house, I am all ears.

      • Yeah I hit it with shoe glue many times, but there is only so much you can do when it ends up falling apart everywhere.

    • If you are sitting in front of the telly then wear heavy duty socks. If you are wandering around the house then team them with some crocs.

      • It gets that cold where I live that I need heavy duty socks and slippers just to get a decent level of protection from the cold.

        • Can you improve the insulation for the house?

We have a big open converted warehouse and we have made some thermal curtains to partition off part of the space. Our gas bill is down to 1/3 of normal and we are toasty warm. The thermal curtains are two flat queen size sheets with a Doona in the middle. You can get everything from IKEA, pretty, cheaply and just need to sew it together and hang the curtain rods.

          • @try2bhelpful: The house is a rental so I am pretty limited with what I can do, and the heating is ducted so it costs a fortune in gas to run, so we just add as many layers as we can and put up with the visible frosty breath when sitting down watching TV.

I did take some of your initial advice though and bought a pair of Crocs that are lined like slippers and look decently warm, so I am hoping that those along with a few pairs of socks will help with the cold feet.

            • @XVX: If you can shut the ducting to certain rooms I would setup one room as your main living area and try to just heat that; you could use a sofa bed to sleep there, as well, if you wanted to. Fortunately we could include the kitchen in our snug so we, basically, live in this area during winter. The rest of the house only gets heated if we have guests. We do use a ceramic heater in the bathroom. We, also, use the mink blankets and some old doonas when we are watching the telly.

              Best of luck with it.

    • Bigw also has grosbys with a real sole, not thin like this. They are hard wearing. But they are not slip-on style.

      Woof!

  • this brand just wont die!

  • I think you'll find (if they're still around) the $3 one's (as pictured) will be in a blue gift box as they were originally a father's day promotion. The light brown one's for $7 were the summer slipper range and BIG W is currently clearing out the majority of their summer stock for $3 or $5 (granted some like the alternate slippers are still $7). Random fact these ones have barely changed the design since 2020. I purchased the lighter colour in the 2020 Father's day giftbox set for $2 late last year.
