Which King Size Pocket Spring Mattress under $500

Need help been looking on Amazon and eBay but not sure which one is best. There are many brands and materials, not sure which ones are higher quality/comfort.

Must be pocket spring and 25-35cm thickness as our bed frame has thin steel slats that could be felt with a thinner mattress.

Pocket spring absolutely destroys my back. Not sure if anyone else has same issues

    • Can't remember having that issue myself. I need the pocket spring for anti-disturbance factor.

  • that doesn't sound like much for king mattress. I bought king at forty winks when they have their recurring sale offering all sizes for price of single, which made it competitive against other stores where I could try before buying.

    • I'm shopping for a boxed mattress, can't afford brick and mortar.

  • IKEA would be lowest level I would go for, tried those in-store?

    • No and it's a 3hr drive and I'm just not that motivated and the fuel costs!
The cheapest pocket spring they have is $699.

Also why do they omit 'king' in their size category? Weird… instead they say 180x200cm. (Which is slightly smaller than other kings 183x203cm)

      • Ikea uses metric which is actually standard sizing. 183cms is 6 feet.

You just missed this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/621926 but its still a good price for well regarded budget pocket spring mattress.

Also, if your bed frame has thin slats why don't you put down a sheet of plywood? Measure your bed frame and get them to cut it to size at Bunnings. You will notice the difference even if you get a thick mattress.

    • Not a bad idea, what would the cost be for such a large piece? Is plywood the cheapest solution?

  • Was in the exact same boat a while ago, finding a pocket spring mattress under $750 that would work with an Ikea Malm bed frame and slats

If you're willing to pay an extra ~$250 after stacking the referral discount and cash back, we've been super impressed by Noa, super comfortable and supportive, can't feel the slats at all

The cheap ebay mattresses looked great, but seemed like you're out on your ass if you hate it or it sags badly in a year or two

    • Yeah I think anything over 25cm thickness will be ok. The current mattress we have is 28cm and can't feel thin metal slats. I had a look under bed when someone was laying down and the mattress doesn't really sag in the gaps at all as the gaps are quite narrrow. The bed frame is a Zinus. $500 is my top end, can't spend more.

  • Seriously considering this Giselle 31cm, comes in at $474.95 delivered.

    • Dont get the Giselle. They are very soft and bouncy with no Edge support at all.
