Can Anyone Recommend Me an Air Purifier?

I'm looking at an air purifier -

We live near the beach and keep most of our windows open pretty much 24/7, which means we get a lot of dust blown in I also have a cat, so I think it would be a good benefit to me to do so!

I've been looking at:
& also this (however no deals atm)

My apartment is probably 100 SQM, ideally it will cover the whole thing, if not just my bedroom.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Xiaomi one's are pretty decent, I used to have the 3H until I sold it. My advice is to look at the availability of its filters rather than the device itself. In the case of Renpho, you're limited to fewer shopping platforms should you wish to change its filter.

That's a good point, I did see that there was an issue with a reduced one from Renpho that they no longer sell the filters! That is not ideal.

  • Any air purifier is probably going to be fighting a losing battle against dust coming in through permanently open windows. During bushfire season I seal up every door and window and run a Xiaomi flat out to try keep up in a similarly sized townhouse breathable.

    • Yep, we close all the windows for any extreme weather, so not expecting it to work miracles just provide some support!

  • Air purifiers are just a box with a fan and a filter. Not much that can go wrong with them from my view.

  • The Amazon one looks the same as one sold by Catch at half the price. Bought for someone else so not sure how it goes.

  • If not going for HEPA, IKEA ones are decent and economic. I'm waiting for their desk-shaped purifier to come into the Australia market. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/new/discover-a-smarter-way-to-cle…

    • I did see the Ikea ones, but I heard they are pretty loud, will be on all the time so want it to be as quiet as possible.

      • Lowest level is actually super quite. I'm having it always on in my bedroom even when sleeping. Can barely notice it.

Waste of money IMO. I don’t see them being effective except in extreme circumstances.

You either have windows open and dust or windows closed and less dust.

  • I have one from kmart- I think it's great esp for the price.
