10kg Top Loader Washing Machine Deals

My brother and sister in law have just had their first child and the old top loader is on its last spin cycle.

They now require a bigger more reliable unit preference to a toploader, 10kg, any brand but needs to last with heavy use. My brother is a welder so overalls and work clothes would be getting washed also.

Any advice, bargains, deals or sales the ozbargain community could advise of would be a great help!

I would just get the biggest LG for their budget and make sure to register it for 10 year parts warranty.

I bought an LG 13kg top loader about four years ago and it's been great. Can even handle king size doonas. The 14kg LG is going for $1299 but I would also consider the Samsung 13kg. Thanks to the Korean company rivalry/pettiness, the Samsung is a bit cheaper at $1189 and comes with 11 years parts warranty on the motor. If you buy from Appliances Online they do free delivery, connection, and removal of old machine too.

I had a 13kg LG top loader and when it was still new LG would not send anyone to fix the thing. I even spoke to the person in charge of warranty and he assigned someone to oversee my problem; she couldn't be bothered to do anything and after more words with that bloke in charge he worked out it was too far to send a person out to fix my machine so they took my machine back and gave me a refund. I only live an hours drive away. LG is full of shit.

When I got my money back, I went and bought a 10kg F&P top loader & after doing some mods to the thing (check youTube so you can get a higher water level or just use the 'bulk' setting'), I could not be happier. It fits my extra king doona cover no worries. It spins at 1200RPM's, so you can take clothes out of the machine and hang it up inside to finish drying (I set up plastic coated wire clothes line in my home using heavy duty eye hooks)

I don't know about deals, but the only 10kg top loader I'm ever touching is the F+P one. They last well, not super fancy but do the job.

    • +1 for F&P. They last forever.

        You think?
It is no longer the Aussie/Kiwi made whitegoods they used to be. Read the first paragraph in Wikipedia.

  • any recent deal on 10kg+ washing machine?

    Is Samsung reliable these days?
