LG C1 OLED 55" 4K Smart TV OLED55C1PTB $2180 + Delivery ($0 to Select Areas/ SYD C&C) @ Appliance Central

260

Have been looking for a second TV for my games room and it was a toss up between the Sony A80J and LG C1. Came across this price which seems better than everything else out there. Has been posted here around this price and seemed to be accepted as a good price. Looking forward to getting it delivered.

  • We bought a Panasonic OLED, so much burn in its all I can see. It isnt huge, but for example the watermark for 10 BOLD or 9 or whatever it is, is noticeable. As is the MUTE symbol. They made it a bright red brick in the corner, and its solid. Cant turn it off. Theres a couple of 50c piece sized marks in the middle between them too. Shows up more with some colours than others but the BOLD is almost omnipresent..

Blacks are only really black in a dark room. Otherwise theres these kind of dark shadows in it …its kind of like a VA PC monitor
Bad enough I wont buy another. They all have LG screens.

    • How old is your TV?

      • -1

Maybe 5 years now, might be 4… started a couple years back though… but Panasonic had bailed

        • +1

I’ve got a LG 55OLEDC6 with some mild burnin purchased early 2016. Barely noticeable netflix menu. Mostly forget it’s there until a white background or something comes up. Still a great TV and great picture, I’d probably get an OLED again in the future.

          • @Elpres: Ours is 55 too.

Was awesome… loved the vibrancy of it. Not so much now. Ill just get a decent non OLED, and much sooner than I would have liked. Like i said, its all I see and it annoys me, I can ignore it… but I get reminded and thats annoying. Too much $$ for that crap IMO. Cant even relegate it, I have a decent older Sony in my shed, was the old TV room TV before the OLED, and the bedrooms have decent Samsungs that arent that old, younger than the OLED.

            • @Tuba: This price is much better to be replacing every 5-6 years than the roughly $4500 I spent back then. Would have liked it to have a 10 year life or something.

          • +1

@Elpres: Contact your retailer or LG and use your consumer rights you'll probably find LG will come out free of charge and replace your panel

@solidussnake: Contemplated going after the TV station too… I remember when they all stopped using solid watermarks because they were liable for Plasma TV burn in, or thought they might be… not sure why they started with it again though

          • @Elpres: I have tbe LG 55B7T, 55 inch 2017 model I purchased in 2017 and I surprisingly have no burn in at all. My TV is probably used 90% of the time for gaming, but some games have constant on screen UI or HUD that I thought would cause problems over time but haven't noticed anything. I think I have done a manual pixel refresh once through the settings menu and I know the TV does a short refresh when put in standby mode each time.

My Panasonic plasma is great and looks a lot better than some of the new LED TVs on the market. Shame they left the TV panel market

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: The two 50 piece sized greenish bits in the bottom, towards the middle of the screen, and the MUTE are Panasonics flaws… the other is that stupid watermark from the TV broadcaster. They used to be translucent to stop that in Plasmas.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: My ST50 plasma is still going strong as second TV in bedroom after 10 years of use.. Provided its not as bright as my Sony LED in living, it is still good.

            • +1

@notJV: Loved my ST50 plasma. great TV.

            • +1

              @notJV: That's what I have, love it

    • I have the Panasonic 65inch GZ1000 and my experience has been the complete opposite. I bought it just before they left the Australian market. I did a burn in test a few weeks ago and I have zero burn in. Their Dolby Vision / HDR10 colour reproduction is top notch I did side by side comparisons the colour just looked more natural. There are lots of comparisons on YouTube they use the same panel but their processing engine is considered much superior. Same tech is used in their Blu Ray players. I found their upscaling was better too. I’m surprised you’ve had a bad experience maybe panel tech changed about 2-3 years ago. The only other option which is comparable IMO to their processing and upscaling is Sony but they’re generally more expensive.

My 65" Panasonic OLED is fubar as well.

I have the "Breaking News" ticker across the bottom.I can read the damn words!!! A patch in the middle that makes skin tones look green. A "Live" word logo in the top left and a channel 7 logo in another corner. Some other bits of logos from other channels blurred in. Also some game HUDs burnt in a bit too.
TV is 4 years old. Started noticing this a year ago. No joy with Panasonic.

Use I used all the options to prevent burn in. I did it religously as per recommedations. I've had Gen 1 plasma TVs that never got burn in. Its really disappointing.

They're not fit for free to air TV use period. No fit for use in gaming.

Ultimately its a gone from a TV I loved to one that makes me grind me teeth every time the screen has a scene with all the burn in displayed.

I won't buy OLED again. And I won't buy anything panasonic due to their woeful response.

Have the LG 77" CX & 55" BX - awesome tvs. No burn in

    • I have a 2017 C7 65-inch and see some image retention on occasion when navigating around my Apple TV, but not really anything when watching actual content. No burn in.

      • Can you run the pixel refresher that should stop image retention ?

        • Didnt work for mine…ran panel maintenance a few times, manual says theres a setting to shift pixels or something to stop it. Didnt stop it either.

Smart move is dont let a screen with solid constant image, sit. Dont walk out of the room with a menu up for example.
And 9 or 10BOLD needs to mellow out…

        • Same as Tuba, didn’t seem to do anything for me.

As I say, when watching content it isn’t an issue, so I’ve just stopped worrying about it.

Still loving the TV! Wish it was a bit crap so I could justify getting a 77-inch 😂

  • Looks like I'll be waiting forever to get a G1 at a decent price :/

(upvoted because at least it's an OLED deal but still going to wait)

  • The 77" C1 at $5150 isn't a bad deal either.

    • If you value the $300 gift card, slightly better at video pro ($200). Was $4800 GG ebay a couple months ago, though

      • I love my 77" C1 it's awesome!

      • +1

They've lowered it to $5050 now.

        • Nice (appliance central)

For anyone looking at this deal, I just called JB HiFi to price match Appliance Central, who I advised were offering it at $2180 with Free Delivery. They couldn't offer delivery, but gave me this tv for a price of $1957 (collection) and a link to pay for it online. Then I used the Suncorp 5% discount JB HiFi gift cards to pay for it, which make the price 1859.15. A $320 saving on top of this deal. Happy hunting!

    • I just called up JB and asked them to price beat expecting to get a similar price, and they said the lowest they could go was matching appliance central but I have to collect it! Tried explaining I’m getting free delivery with appliance central and asked if they could sweeten the deal but they wouldn’t budge.

      • Same here with me

It’s $2050 with free delivery from Appliance central now .
JB only wanted to price match ( initial just said only can drop $20 dollars from $2195 , lol )
But have to pay delivery or collect
