Compared to Bunnings (~$20-$30 per stone/hone) I think this represents good value.

I got mine last week from Amazon AU, just checked and the listing now ships from US. Perfect for destroying your secateurs in a botched sharpening attempt.

Or if you know what you're doing I suppose you could buy them too.

also available @ ~$11 per hone.

  • Better to put that money towards a fixed angle sharpening system. Costs more, but quickly paid in itself by extending the lives of all the knives and scissors around the house. Plus not have to replace botched jobs lol

    • I'm inclined (lol) to agree, perhaps I should change description to "only if you know what you're doing." I got frustrated and angry enough to run the secateur blade through my chef's choice at 20deg and resurrected it, only to discover the blade sharpness wasn't the only issue as far as returning to "as new." Still cuts much better now thankfully.

These ones will still come in handy i reckon, for old mate who can use them well, probably with their eyes closed.

As a person that has managed to ruin countless knife edges before finally learning how to sharpen, I 1000% recommend you buy this - https://www.amazon.com.au/Work-Sharp-WSGFS221-Guided-Sharpen…

It's the Worksharp Guided Field Sharpener, it basically idiot proofs sharpening blades. There's a larger desktop based model and I assume it's similar but I haven't used it and I don't believe it comes with a strop like the field sharpener does. I've managed to sharpen 12 inch+ knives with it, so it's absolutely capable to sharpening kitchen knives of length.

I've heard good things about that system. No good for anyone wanted to sharpen japanese knives however, the guides on it are 20 degrees and 25 degrees, you'd want one to be 15 degrees.
