        Yeah personally that's a big killer for me. Feels more of an incremental downgrade but i guess that's the way things are going now.

      Not sure, but from specs SD 778G(Samsung A52s 5G) looks be better than Exynos 1280(Samsung A53 5G) but will wait for the benchmark tests to come out.

      Just went from a Poco F3 to a Galaxy A52s and the difference is negligible as both are very similar in performance, the difference is in the signal strength, which is why I made the switch…
      The Galaxy A52s has a lot better 4G signal strength (I personally don't need 5G), which seems to be a common complaint with Xiaomi/Poco phones. Could not be happier after making the switch.
      So the A53 should be just as good if not better…

    Interested to see what the benchmarks are like. Seems like decent value but if the chip is slow I would pass - my A50 is great other than now being quite slow.

    Great price but the A73 looks to be the price:performance sweetspot when it gets released.

    Huge camera upgrade 108mp from 64mp and small screen size (6.7in) increase for I think it was $50 more? *USD

    IMO this phone is a downgrade from the current A52s in most metrics. New model's SOC has half the performance cores, lacks a headphone jack and uses a less power efficient Samsung 4G/5G modem. The new model has a slight bump in battery capacity and the camera array is identical.

    Seems like this only exists as a holdover from the chip shortage.

        Doesn't matter, you take so many L's for this model you'd most likely swap devices before that 4 year OS mark.

    A53 5g vs A52 5g:
    bigger battery - 5000mah vs 4500mah (+ 10% battery life)
    More power efficient cpu - 5nm vs 8nm (+30% ? Battery life).
    Overall - Battery life should be excellent

    Cpu performance - unknown- expected to be about the same / slightly better

    Headphones jack - removed

    Conclusion:
    Keep an eye out for clearance deals on the A52, it's Battery life is over 100 hours already.

    a52s is better imo. Headphone jack, sd card, 778g is a decent bit better than the 1200.

      A53 has mSD card, but agree the SD778 and headphone jack are better on the A52s. The real question is, is the free Buds2 worth those two?
      … and can you find stock of the A52s (not in lilac) at the right price?

    Has anybody purchased and received a shipping notification? Want to know how long it takes them to process and ship as my husabnd just killed his A52 (slammed it in door of our van when I sent him to Bunnings to buy a door on sale for $50 down from $200 - false economy now!), He needs a new device ASAP for our business and I'm wondeirng if we should buy this or another A52 if shipping takes too long.

      My offspring ordered one on the 21st. Order status is still showing as "processing". Live chat basically gave some generic response that the order is in progress and it will be shipped soon.

      I subscribed and emailed Monday noonish. Now Thursday night and as yet still haven't heard back. I emailed, tried live chat (nil response) and spent 20min on call and got disconnected. Posted several times on fb (desperation!) and messaged them too - all with no replies.I decided this morning to just buy it but then both blue and black were showing as sold out. Arghhh! It was like this throughout the day until finally around 3pm it showed black was in stock so I pulled the trigger and purchased. Happy to still get the student price plus free earbuds, even if I am a little butthurt at missing the $50, and at the absence of customer service.

        It took me about 4 days to get the voucher. After not getting it for 2 days I sent an email to support. Then a day later did live chat and they said they couldn't do anything about the voucher but would "escalate my support request". Then I got it about 24 hours later. The voucher came from support - they said it has been sent previously but "must have been blocked by my spam filter" which I think was rubbish . I was able to use it on the edu store

        I had to shake the tree a bit to get status - I called/emailed numerous times. ordered 30/03 and got my device yesterday 12/04 : dispatched my order from SYD to MELB via Startrack. Samsung customer services is useless, suggest waiting rather than having to engage with them unless you like having your questions repeated back to you - it was akin to combination of having an aneurysm and lobotomy.
