Good Quality Top Mount Fridge

Moving into a new place in next few weeks, and cavity will only allow a top mount fridge. Can go as big as 500 litres based on the specifications I have seen for these types of fridges (maximum width of the fridge can be 85cm)

Have read in forums that Mitsubishi and LG are good brands - but with the Afterpay deals atm, I wanted to know whether there any decent models that are good value at the moment we should be looking at?

How do you measure a quality in a fridge, last for 10+ years? these days most last for that long. I got a Electrolux still doing good.

    • Yes the time it lasts is the key from our perspective, not too fussed about fancy features (e.g. water dispenser, fancy drawers etc). Energy efficiency would be great and on the larger side would be ideal for a family of four.

Go visit HN/GG or somewhere, Short list a few then do some online research than just buying online. Energy efficiency is good, since you gonna be stuck with it for 10+ years. (most important tip, measure the size of the wall cavity before shopping)

        • Thanks - the cavity is quite large for a single fridge. I was thinking that this model may be good? https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-599l-top-mount-refrig…

@jorders1: Don’t buy a Samsung fridge! I’m sure others will chime in here, but Samsung fridges (and appliances in general) are terrible. My Samsung fridge has been repaired more times than I can remember.

            • @jackary: Yeah stick to Samsung phones and Samsung Tv's. Dont buy Samsung washing machine and Samsung Fridge. They dont have a good reputation for washing machine and fridge,

The guy that came to fix my Samsung French Door (came twice, 10 year old fridge - has issues with defrost) - anyways he said best brand to buy is Electrolux

  • We have an Electrolux pigeon pair, and while the fridge has been a bit hit and miss, the service has been quick and excellent, even during the stock shortages.

Look carefully at energy efficiency, quality of internal plastics, thermal insulation. Also the ability of the distributor/manufacturer to supply parts and information, not just for broken pieces, but too maintain it if it fails, especially once it is out of warranty.

  • Another issue is there is severe stock shortage. My 14 year old fridge died and I had to get a replacement in a rush and had to get a less than optimum fridge as most models were showing long delivery times.

  • Thanks all - are there any upcoming whitegoods sales that I should hold off for?
