Best Way to Remove Stickers from Chess Board?

Hi OzB, I recently won a chess board from a vendor and partner I work with, and found they’ve both stuck their logos on the board.

I play chess for personal fun, and would rather not have to see work related logos every time I walk past it or play a game. Are there any methods of removing the stickers without damaging the board?

The stickers are 8.5cm, and appear to be rather heavy duty as opposed your standard more flimsy stickers.

Thanks!

Put your own photo stickers or whatever on their sticker?

PS: Chess with anything other than Staunton pieces are non-intuitive and detract from the game.

Just use Google to check, mate.

Lift up a corner carefully, get some dental floss around it and gently "saw" the sticker off. Use Goo Gone or equivalent to clear up any residue.

Isopropyl alcohol (IPA). See if you can get a small lift under one corner and start dabbing IPA under the lifted corner. As it loosens, peel it up a bit more and apply more IPA.

Or Eucalyptus oil if you can't find IPA

Yeah, I would recommend this, too. My kids put some stickers (those cheap ones that peel off into 1000 pieces on their bed), and this got it off with a scraper

    • 100% agree. The best and safest product for removing stickers by far.

Thanks guys. I used Hybroid's suggestion to which the stickers came off very well and barely left any sticky residue on the board.

WD40 - I use it to remove stickers and particularly the residue left behind after removing stickers and labels.
