It's about to Get Real, Instant Noodle Prices to Rise

How is this a thing? Apparently, about one third of the world’s wheat supply comes from Ukraine and Russia.

As those with a keen taste for Indomie mi goreng may already know, most of the world’s instant noodles are produced in Indonesia. As it turns out, most of the wheat for those noodles is sourced from either Australia or Ukraine.

Haven't we suffered enough? first fuel now instant noodles.. not sure how much of this i can take.

When was the last time you bought a steak?

    • +1

bought some really nice wagyu rump steaks from woollies the other day… $35/ KG

      • Was it F1 Wagyu?

        • not sure wasn't the pre- packaged ones. i got it from one of the woolies that has a butcher inside the store. picked the 2 steaks that had the most marbling.
there was a huge difference in the steaks. some had little to no marbling and some had quite a bit…

      • 1kg of minute steaks last night
        dog food mince tonight

        inflation

      • I couldn't believe seeing a wagyu roast at Devonport woollies in Tasmania for $22/kg. Crazy!

I'll hand in my OzBargain licence in saying that I dropped a hundo on an 8+ wagyu portahouse over the weekend. By God it was good

pile em up next to ya 10,000 dunny rolls….

      • If someone tried to eat all those noodles before they expire, those toilet rolls will be greatly needed!

        • +1

Only change months after expiration is sometimes the flavour satchets can go a bit soggy & stick together inside (but takes 6 months to 2 years to do so). Indestructible Foodstuff otherwise.

  • they don't agree with me anyway.

    • +1

My young bloke loves em, i reckon they taste like garbage

      • the spicy ones are nice, normal beef and chicken just taste bland unless you are a kid (used to like them as a kid)

Maybe we should plant some wheat?

    • +1

Has no one in this country thought of that already?

      • They likely have.

But between the cost of buying seeds and maintaining the crops for the 4 months it takes to mature, there is a large risk that it won't be a problem by the time it's harvestable.

        • that wheat is gonna be pretty expensive if you have to pay australian workers to harvest it etc

          *grammar

  • Hi, got some Marsala Maggi noodles the other day (made in India) they weren't bad & cheaper than normal Maggi's - full fat though (15 grams each, need to get 97% fat free or Wholegrain ones for lower fat). They were at aisle end display, assume Noodle section or Asian or International. normally.

Otherwise instead of noodles Reject Shop has 11 packs of Jack's Seasoned Rice for $2 - s'posed to be a Tesco(?) sale item - they have a 6 pack of Pilaf Rice $2 double the packet size. Note - not faster takes 20 minutes even in microwave. Darn cheap. Box is dark green - barcode won't scan - cashier needs to use a piece of paper with a code to scan 'em.

everything going up except my salary

    • when inflation goes up but your salary doesn't… that's a pay cut.
even when you get a raise, unless it is greater than inflation… that's a pay cut
