[FIXED] Need Help with Eero Pro 6 Setup with Optus FTTP

Hey guys,

I have been trying to setup Eero Pro 6 on my Optus FTTP NBN connection. Since I moved from Optus Sagecom modem + router, everything works seamlessly the speeds are awesome everywhere, except my Arlo Pro 4 camera's live view and alerts are delayed by a couple of minutes. I will explain what happened during the setup

  • 1) What didn't work - I removed the Optus Modem + Router from NTD and connected Eero Pro 6. Waited for about 5-10 minutes and few retries in the App, Eero Pro 6 could never connect to internet.
  • 2) What worked - I reconnected Optus Modem + router to NTD on WAN port and connected Eero Pro 6 to Optus Router, and Eero pro 6 setup completed successfully (Double NAT).
  • 2.1) So, I removed the Optus router from NTD, and connected Eero Pro 6 router to NTD, after restart Eero Pro 6 was able to connect to Optus NBN without the Optus Modem + router.
  • 2.2) And then I reconfigured all my devices including Arlo Pro 4 cameras to Eero Pro 6 router.

In short, right now Eero Pro 6 is connected to NTD directly and mesh is setup except the cameras are very slow, slower by 3-4 minutes. In live view, I see pictures of moving objects by a lag of 5-10 seconds between each frame.

I can reset the Eero and start over again, but then it will my step-1 which didn't work for me in the first place. I spoke with Eero support, they will try with tier 2 support tomorrow, they confirmed I am not in double NAT mode in the router settings.

I have been reading forums, community posts whirlpool, but none seem to have the problem I have.

  • Have you checked you don’t have WPA3 or SQM turned on? I found this affected my Eufy cameras.

SQM is the ‘Optimise for Conferencing & Gaming’ option.

    • Let me check that. Eero mobile app doesn’t give extensive options that other mesh routers web interface provides. Apparently they don’t even have a web interface.

  • I kept the router disconnected for one hour and connected directly to the DTD. And it worked.

  • Can you please also share what ISP settings you did for connecting Eero directly to NTD? I have been calling optus all this time for PPPoE credentials on my account, however their tech support team seems to be completely lost on this one.
