SquareTrade threatening to block IMEI

But if a strange one and have never been in this type of situation before.

I traded in a phone at JB HiFi via SquareTrade. Sent the device off etc but now SquareTrade are saying they haven’t received the device and if they haven’t received a payment for the value of the trade, they will block IMEI of the phone I traded and also the new phone I bought at JB HiFi with the trade in coupon.

I don’t even know where to start, I’ve provided proof of me sending the item. Can they block my IMEI? I don’t know what I should do next?

Contact the service you used to send the item, and see what has happened to it, if its lost in transit, hopefully you got insurance.

Postage tracking code and insurance available?

  • +2

I’ve provided proof of me sending the item

Key information missing here - what status does the tracking number indicate?

  • Have you asked them

The tracking number will tell if the item has been received or not.

Check on the APO website and see what it says. Then if you have proof that it's been delivered it's not your problem.

    Can they block my IMEI?

Didn't they take a credit card upfront as security?

Doesn't square trade give you gift cards? Pretty unlikely they would end up with the IMEI of the new device you purchased.

  • Can they block IMEIs without reporting it to the police as theft?

Very unlikely they can block the imei unless they have had it registered on their account at some time as an active connection

Maybe the one they sold you. But super unlikely the one you sent them (they never got)

Looks like L Plater OP has disappeared never to return. Typical.
