Can't stand this new alcohol free stuff. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth and no where near as refreshing.

    • When I was looking into tongue health I read something about staying away from mouth wash with alcohol in it. I think it helps the fungus on your tongue thrive.

      • As a kid studying in the dental field, there can be many reasons why alcohol based might not be suitable for everyone. One reason is that alcohol can dry the oval cavity (mouth), leading to less saliva being produced which isn't the best. Another reason can be that alcohol based tend to create a burning sensation, so really depends on one's needs.

    • I am confused. The packaging says alcohol free, no burns

Are you referring to new alcohol free in oral B pro health or other product?

      • I’m confused

      • Yes.

    • Apparently the ones containing alcohol and way less good for your gums.

      • but does the non alcohol ones actually kill anything in your mouth?

        • Yes, both alcohol and non-alcohol would kill bacteria in your mouth (both good and bad bacteria). That's at least one reason why you probably shouldn't use mouthwash too often.

The reason everyone went off alcohol mouthwashes is that studies showed extended alcohol exposure can cause mouth cancers.

        • As a kid studying in the dental field, there's also the effect of alcohol drying your oral cavity (mouth). Which leads to less saliva being present which is very useful to the body. So this would be a great alternative to those who especially suffer from having a dry mouth in the first place.

  • I think Bad after taste depends on “flavour”. This particular one made in USA have a strong cinnamon taste (similar to big red gum or dr peper, for some reason americans love these sort of taste)

  • My dentist tells me not to use mouthwash rather brush and spit excess paste in mouth and not to gargle or rinse.

Are these much different to the 1L Colgate ones that are usually on sale on Amazon?

    • I think most/all of the Colgate ones don't have fluoride.
