For an RMA Claim under Warranty, Do I Need to Return The Product with All Accessories/Parts?

Bought a Modular PSU from Centrecom 1.5 years ago, and the 5V rail randomly failed yesterday with no signs of life

I can't find the extra cables it came with, do I need these for an RMA? Or is returning the faulty product with the main cables enough?

Product is fine as-is, you don't need the box and all accessories etc.

    • That's good to know thanks, is there anything I can send them via email to confirm that? They seem to be using the missing sata and molex cables as a way to play hardball

      • They may negotiate a reduced price, however it depends on the agreement they have with the Distributor.
They probably are looking at the extra money they can make selling it as a spare part.
It would normally be the case up until 10-15 years ago, but if need be exercise your rights under ACL.

It's an RMA, not a return. It should not need to be complete.

i did a rma for seasonic not too long ago, they explicitly state not to return anything else including cables as it will not be returned back to you.

  • Why was this tag as COVID-19?

  • You usually follow the manufacturers'/resellers' instructions to go through RMA process.

From my own experience, most of the manufacturers only want users to return the faulty part, not including the accessories; but some may ask users to return the whole set so they may assess if the malfunction is caused by a faulty accessory.
